Pulled into the garage today and went to put the bike up on the center stand. About halfway through the cycle, I heard a snap. Once the bike was fully up on the stand, got off and found a bolt laying on the floor. It was obvious that it hadn't just loosened up and fallen off. Got the drop light out and started looking and found that it had come from the center stand frame, rear, on the side-stand side. Looks like my center stand is out of commission (don't want to put undo stress on the other rear bolt) until I can find time to drop the EHCS, frame, stand. Don't know, but hope that there will be enough of the bolt left to grab onto, or else its drill and easy-out time.

Don't know why this happened, no signs corrosion or a pre-existing crack. Ever heard of this happening before?

On my 06, I found the EHCS to be lose when changing engine oil as I could not access the 3rd bolt to the oil filter cover and found I could move the assembly by hand. Does not sound like the same bolt that snapped on you but I was suspicious when the CS was not always able to go through it's full cycle to get the bike to sit up.

Perhaps we need to pay more attention to ensuring these bolts are properly torqued.

At CCR last year the donor bike for an EHCS actuator rebuilt had one bolt missing and one bolt sheared off (these were the two in the actuator frame). Pulled the stand assy off the bike and took it up to the supporting dealers site and he removed (not hard) the broken bolt. Easy to fix and there was a hardware supplier that had bolts just down the road. Re installed with blue loctite.

The actuator cradle uses M10x45 (can fit M10 x 55) and the centerstand frame uses M10x65.
