I have a 2022 RT. For those of you who get a second “bike phone”, what services are on the phone? Obviously you don’t need a phone number. How do you download the connection app? In other words when you go into a store and buy the phone, what set up needs to be done? Also, I’m assuming all phone calls are strictly thru your main phone which is paired to your headset. And yes, I am technically challenged!

I still don't have the RT, though I use two phones. My new phone, and my old phone. All the features and apps work on my old phone, just not the phone number. I use the hot spot from my new phone for the old phone so all the apps work. I primarily use the old phone for apps, 8k songs (though I rarely play tunes), and a secondary GPS I can have in my tank bag, with my new phone in my jacket pocket in case I crash and become separated from my bike. I use Bluetooth in my helmet for GPS and phone calls.

ive got a "bike" phone with a VERY basic plan that gives a number and internet.
On a long trip I divert my normal phone to the bike phone so I can still take calls. I have done this intentionally so I can see who is calling. Dont take calls from numbers I dont know, which I couldnt do with normal phone to helmet.
Also ensures my normal phone isnt impacted by any of the TFT issues.
I also have Xt so thats synced to the normal phone for traffic etc.
Helmet is direct to the TFT which is direct to the "bike" phone.
All works for me with no issues.
Ive done 34k kms in 14 months so its worth it for me on my long rides.

I use pretty much the same set up as Trilergy. A dedicated iPhone XR as my dedicated bike phone - purchased secondhand, with a cheap SIM and data plan. I call forward my normal phone to it most of the time. My phone is connected to the bike/TFT, not the Sean 50S communicator. I have used the setup described for just over 20,000 KM over the last 10 months, including some multi day rides of over 3,500km. The TFT nav has worked well for me on those long rides, with minimal issues.
