OK, after over 47 years of riding, and having never named a bike, I now feel compelled to name my 2000 K1200LT. Must be something to do with the fit of the bike and the handling, I'm not sure what else...Karma maybe? Any way here goes (drumroll) I have decided on Latifah. Why you might ask. Because she has an [email protected]@ a mile wide....but daaaaamn can that fat lady sing!

I also have been trying to come up with clever names for my bikes, I think the 2000 LT will be either "The Love Boat" since I can take my honey on it, or else "The Luxo-Barge" in honor of my long-lost love, my '86 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. :(

The trick is naming my R1200C, can't think of anything snappy, all I know is that it makes me happy 5+ days a week and feel I owe it something special in a name :bmw:

I was afraid to ask if other's have named their "motored beasts!" My boat's got a name but was not sure if it would be "manly" to name my bike. I was thinking about privately naming her "Blue Silk!"

Manly shmanly Ron. I am 60 years old and have realized that I have far less in front of me (belly excluded) than behind me. I now don't give a rodents sphincter what any other a-hole thinks of me. If I like it, it is fine. Ride your own road and damn the torpedoes!

Just my opinion. Robert.

I called the 2000 Canyon Red LT "Big Kitty". Now that she's over in Dave's stable, I refer to her as "Red". Makes it easy since I call the 2005 LT "Blue".

I dunno man..... Ya might have opened your kimono just a little too wide there. ( get it? A play on the silk part?) But you know, the OP is absolutely correct. Who cares? These things do kind of get a little personal with you. And they never complain about how fast you're going, how fast you are going around a corner, how loudly you are singing along with Pink Floyd, etc. She just takes it in stride.

Blue Silk. That's nice.

I also thought of Starship Entreprise some time ago and went to read some things on the subject.
The propulsion mode of the NCC1701 is called WARP drive technology.
It says: ' WARP drive technology creates an artificial "bubble" of normal space-time that surrounds the spacecraft (as opposed to entering a separate realm or dimension like hyperspace, as is used in the Star Wars, Warhammer 40,000, Babylon 5 and Andromeda universes). Consequently, spacecraft at warp velocity can continue to interact with objects in "normal space".'
Isn't that exactly what we're riding??? :D

WARP1 equals the speed of light, WARP2 equals 8 times the speed of light... I'm thinking about my Warp-factor now...

I originally called her "U-99" after the famous German submarine. She seemed to be going under regularly especially when I started to ride her. When she took a nap she was also [email protected]#$H and other names that are not used in polite company. Since I bought an RT also they are now the "Big Girl" and "Little Girl"
