Hi! I have a question as to where the auto signal canceling mechanism is located? and is it adjustable? It seems to work only when it wants to, Ironically that is kinda' like me. I have the repair cd, but I couldn't find anything on it relating to the auto canceling system. Thanks, Tom

They are not adjustable. Only works if the bike is moving. They should blink about 15 times and then stop, again, only if the bike is moving.

Ok, thanks. I was thinking that the lean of the turn was the activator. I'll check the 15 blink thing out. And if that isn't wotking right I'll replace the relay under the tank.

Hello Tomlando

I would not just replace a relay , me thinks the Motronic is in charge of turning that relay on and off after a set time of bike move movement, so some speed imput is in the fray also.

Its by distance at city speed, and timer at highway speeds.

It definitely must be a distance, because when my speedometer was down (pick-up sensor did not work) the turnlights never cancelled automatically, no matter the distance I would go on highway or city.

Now, just another point to ponder: the auto canceler is a safety feature - to prevent you from riding like Gramps in his '72 Plymouth, with left blinker on for last 10 miles... :rotf: Or, like some other motorcycle riders...

You are supposed to cancel yourself at an appropriate moment, after your turn or pass is completed. No amount of electronics will be accurate for all riding conditions (and, unlike in an automobile, steering does not twist a lot on turns - cannot use that to cancel).

Thus, the canceler timeout is designed to be longer then needed, but not too long for most conditions. It should cancel when you forget to do so.

If your canceler is working incorrectly, or erratic, that is one issue. If it works reliably, but you think it is too long: that's your fault. You are supposed to be in command.

It is more of an electronics module than a relay and lists for $119.00. I have yet to see one fail on this board over the last five years. Everyone that has had an issue was traced to LED lights, bad grounds and burnt out bulbs(and now the speedo input). My observations on the 05 is above 35 mph I get 13 flashes, below that speed it still does not last long enough for a long left turn lane and stopped it will flash untill the cows come home.

Yeap in town I cancel mine as I will pass other turns before it cancels itself

I wasn't sure how it worked because it seemed that the right turn would cancel just after and the left wouldn't. I was thinking it was some kind of gyro/pendulum thing controlled by the lean of the bike. I don't usually depend upon the auto cancel anyway and I was curious as to how it worked, Thanks for thr input!

I may be wrong but to me it looks like it is based on distance and distance only and would cancel itself after about 300meters (1/5 of a miles). That is my observation anyway.

Can't be purely distance as I get 13 flashes at 35 mph and at 95 mph. I cover a lot more ground at 95.
