My brother is on my '99LT touring Scandinavia. He had a parking lot drop in Oslo. He's fine, bike is fine, but his wife landed on her bum pretty hard. They're taking a few days in a hotel and rental car to see if she heals enough to finish their tour and make the return ride to Heidelberg.

I'm sure it will all work out, but it would be nice to have a contact in Oslo. It's possible they may need to find storage the bike until next spring.

Thanks in advance.

Have to check the map, but Ari is in Hyvinkää, Finland. His handle is pozo_izquierdo.

Great guy, farkle freak extraordinaire, and great friend of all who know him.

That's one expensive place to hang out in. Oslo is a great city, but one of the most expensive. A burger and beer can run 40 bucks easily. And that's going cheap.
Hope they can ride the bike out.
Sorry about your sister in-law getting hurt.

I know a motorcyclist near Oslo - the only contact I have for her is her Facebook page - look up 'Liv Baljisten' on F/B & send her a message - I'll let her know I've suggested it to you.

Try Euro sections

Rich, this may be a wrong forum to ask.

Try instead the European forum here:
http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=33

as well as the very active one on ADVrider:

(Contact me via PM if you want me to post for you).

I am sure you'll find someone.

BTW, I am guessing that you are storing your bike with Stephan? How is that working out? (Not that I am trying to hijack thread - at least the exchange will keep it higher in forum list. ;) ).

Robert,

Thanks for the contacts, but it l looks like my brother and wife have the situation in well in hand. They wisely bought breakdown insurance (via Stefan) and even though the bike did not breakdown, the insurance company is shipping the bike back to Heidelberg and pays for their flights from Oslo to Frankfurt when they are ready.

Your right, it's been stored at Stefan's for 2+ years and it has works out very, very well. He has a great location, and he takes care of as much or as little of the travel and service arrangements as you like. I like to do my own service and he provides tools and a clean shop. Otherwise he'll do tires and fluid changes. He has a trailer to haul the bike to BMW for more. It very comforting to have someone that will step up for you if a problem comes up so far from home.

This year my wife and I spent 5 weeks in Spain (and France). Last year all of Italy, Greece and back through Croatia. Fall, 2013, we'll do Scandinavia and into Russia.

Glad to hear your brother & Co. are handling the issue. I wish them all the best.

I have been in touch with Stefan a few times over the years, mostly arranging rentals. I have been also planning to get into his annual trailer with my K1200RS, but then I sold it anyway. I do not spend enough time riding in Europe to justify keeping a machine there, though the thought resurfaces from time to time.
