I took the leap and moved up to a 2001 1200LT. My previous ride for tt 16 or so years has been a 1984 Kawasaki 1300 Voyager.
I have been lurking the last couple of months on this forum, and do not believe everything I read.
After picking it up on 12/22/12, I have only gotten to ride it 3 times, besides from the street to the garage.
So far, I am impressed with the comfort and handling.
For all the people who have talked about the LT being top heavy, you have never ridden a 1300 Voyager, I find the LT's fairing to be smaller. The old Voyager was close to 800 lbs dry.
The few things I have to get used to are the position of the mirrors, and the acceleration. I do love the heated hand grips and seat, especially with this cooler weather.
I look forward to meeting up with others in the Chicago area, and in my travels between here and San Antonio, TX.

Welcome aboard, Scott. Glad you found the forums, and congrats on LT ownership.

When you say 'travels between Chicago area and San Antonio', does that mean you'll be riding the LT round trip, or???? Of course, there is always the option of a second LT to be parked in S.A.!! ;)

If you find some free time during a visit to S. A., give us a ping on the South Central forum and maybe we can gather up some rowdys and meet you at Einstein's Bagel shoppe for a morning coffee chat, or for lunch somewhere convenient to your location. Best always.

Yea me too. Its one of the things that stood out on my first test ride - great suspension and handling; really holds a line when you're in the twisties.
