Hi,
I wonder if someone has an experience with extra set of rearview mirrors installed to the handlebars of K1200LT (where holes are already preset)?
BMW dealer offers set for $200x2=$400. Any good aftermarket alternatives? Pros and Cons?

Thank you

I and quite a few other members have the RS mirrors on the handlebars. I know there are mirrors from other models that will fit the same, but can't remember which. as far as after market goes, I would imagine that anything that will fit through the holes and accept a nut would work. Have look on ebay for anyone parting out an RS, also check with Beemer Bone Yard.
I have a limited range of motion in my neck and have a rear view camera installed, but ditched the monitor after getting the RS mirrors. I keep them set to see more directly behind me and have the stock mirrors turned as far out as possible to watch the lanes along side. Works well for me.

That is twice what I paid ($207.61, includes both mirrors, washers, nuts, tax and shipping) from A&S Motorcycles Parts in September 2014 for a set of K1200RS mirrors. The part nos. are:

51167653773 & 74 for L&R mirrors;
51162309607 for the spring washers; and
51162328287 for the nuts.

I'll sell you the mirrors and include my '07 LT for only $7,500 (see my eBay ad currently running). Here's a picture of them mounted on the bike -

I added K1200rs mirrors. I found the stock mirrors required me to look down while riding and I felt that took my eye off the road too much. I think they were from a 2003 model year. Ebay is you friend, just have to watch for them.

k75 k100 mirrors will fit, I know those are pretty easy to find, prob same as r mirrors

$40

I think the difference is in shape and stem style. The mirrors on the K75/100 are round on a stick stem, the RS are more of a rounded rectangle on a molded stem that looks like it belongs there. Oh and of course $$price$$.

just say the k1200rt mirrors mounted on fairing.
Could do same with screws from the inside, seems nice and high.
Just blank out old mirror location

I bought these. Still pricey though.

SAENG/TA, Sport Touring Accessories - Quick-Scans™| Boss-Mount | Pair

They work well, but I have two minor complaints. They are a little small and don't rise far enough above the bar and I hit them often with my gloves when I grab the handlebars.

I may make a spacer to try to raise them up a little.

Hi,

Forgive me for appearing to jump in as a newbie. It seems my old login creds weren't any good and I had to reregister. Saw this thread and thought I'd post a quick reply. [I'll do an introduction after this].

I bought some regular mirrors that I liked for cheap -- kinda like these Universal Rectangle Aluminum Motorcycle Rearview Mirrors 8MM10MM Black for Honda | eBay
I made some adapter stalks that fit my LT.
Since I no longer have the LT I have all these parts laying about in the garage. Somewhere along the line one of the mirrors got cracked.

You can have the set for the cost of shipping. Just email me at ibpete.com. I'd guess worst case shipping to be about $10

thanks,

I'm sitting here half asleep, just lurking through the forum a bit while getting tomorrows meds ready. I hit your signature and busted out so loud the dog started barking. I laughed myself into tears. Mostly because I very much resemble that remark. I quite often forget the cagers don't accelerate as quick as we.:lol8:
