Here's a question for yas: How much power does the alarm drain? I have never used mine. One reason is the state of the battery (questionable). I would hate to be on vacation or anywhere and have the alarm drain the battery overnight or something like that. And I would hate to have to plug in a charger at a motel or something like that just to say my alarm is on.

Plus I would probably lose the fob. I couldn't tell you exactly where they are now. And I'll have to read about how it actually works.

But was thinking I might use it after I replace the battery, just so onlookers can see the LED flash occasionally.... :histerica

If I ever go anywhere I think it would be needed....It's not a harley, so in NC, it probably won;t be bothered much.

How many of you had ever had the alarm go off because someone was messing with or stealing your bike? Anyone with false alarms?

I recently used the alarm for for 3 days continuously without any problems starting afterwards. It seems that you have some concerns about the battery-maybe it' time for a new one. I have a Panasonic AGM battery that is about a 1 1/2 years old and have been quite pleased with it.

I KNOW it is time for a battery. Even with it on the tender all the time, it is weak. It is the original in an 03, so it has been a good one.

I just gotta decide WHICH battery. My past experiences with motorcycle batteries makes me wonder about how to get one delivered that is ready to go, without having to fill and charge for days, etc.

Although I do like the idea of the more CCA gold wing battery mentioned in a nother thread.

Thanks

Randy - Odyssey, Panasonic, Wesco, Yuasa and a coupla other brands all have the AGM or Gel type batteries fitted for the LT. These battery boxes are legal to ship thru air or ground services and 'usually' arrive with ample charge to enable immediate installation. Doesn't hurt to throw a Battery Tender on 'em for the first few hours, butt I haven't found that necessary in the three AGM batteries that I've purchased. The Panasonic is my preferred brand now (even tho it's made in China), following advice and experience from my friend Alan Stuber. Butt, all of 'em work well. I did have two Odysseys that worked fine, even tho they were spec rated below the BMW OEM lead acid battery (circa '99). Panasonic is above the OEM specs.

Good luck in finding a decent price for any of these batteries - eBay worked for me in finding the last Panasonic.
