7Jurock windscreen question

1230 Views 15 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  Booger man
Hi, I have narrowed down my search for an aftermarket windscreen to either a Werks Quiteride or a 7Jurock.

They are both the same price. (Maybe even the same item?)
After reading many posts on this forum, I will probably go with a 24" screen. (I'm 6', 32" inseam, using bar risers.)
Due to wind noise, I usually ride with the stock screen in the fully up position, and always with earplugs.

My question: other than the additional price, is there any downside to getting the 7Jurock with the 'visor vent' ?

Thanks for your thoughts.

It does get a bit warm in the summer behind all that wind protection lol...

I have the quietride and they don't have a vent option so 7jurock would be the only option. I'm considering getting one but wish there were more folks that could give feedback on it.

I just throw my stock shield back on when it gets real hot. The quiet ride shields rocks!

I have the Werks Quiet Ride, Stock windshield, and stock "Sport" windshield. I use the Werks most of the time and if I'm going somewhere where I don't care about the wind protection/buffetting, but air flow and looking cool are key, I use the sport windshield.

The vent is a must if your in a hot climate. Lets just enough air through to take the heat away.

The 2021 and up screens are the same, earlier versions should not be......
I done ALL the development on the 2014 through 2023 versions and the price should be the same either way.

Yes, there IS a reason you cannot get a "vent" in the Quiet Ride. I done extensive testing with those several years ago. Sure sounds like a good thing! But it is NOT. There is a lot of air that comes under the Quiet Ride. That is part of why it works so well, how that air is managed. It is smooth....so many will say they don't feel enough air when hot. In fact they don't feel the turbulence and that leads to a conclusion there is little airflow!

The "vent" disrupts this air flow! When open you can feel a slight difference in air, partly because it is turbulent coming through the laminar flow behind the screen. When closed...you simply feel turbulence and hear noise. This vent sticks out a considerable distance behind the screen ( watch out for accessories on a shelf!) and it is like a flat wall to the airflow coming up the back of the screen. I experimented with removing the vent and leaving just the hole....no good there either. Tape up the hole and it was back to expected performance of a Quiet Ride. Yes, there are threads about owners getting this vent installed and how much they like it. Of course they do, it is still better than stock even with the vent. But were they to test back to back with and without it....me thinks they would write exactly what I have written here.....

Unfortunately, for me, summer heat is already problematic. However, hearing damage is my biggest concern.
After @realshelby's post, I'm now thinking forego the vent and I'll be able to ride with the new screen in a lower position thus getting more cooling airflow while preserving my hearing.

I always wear ear protection or s-plugs that allow music and provide noise protection so that's not a big deal to me. Heck the Tracer900 was crazy loud by comparison... I couldn't believe how great music sounded again when getting on the RT w/stock shield.. LOL

Then you'll be blown away by how much more of it you can hear behind the Werks Quiet Ride. When I changed windshields from the stock to the Werks, I had to turn down the volume on my helmet with music on, but I could hear more detail in it at the lower volume. It makes a huge difference.

Yeah, I already have the quietride.. and I agree.

For reference... I'm 6-2 with 36 inseam. I have the 24" Quietride and it is fantastic, maybe even a touch too tall. If I raise it above eyelevel things become spooky quiet (except for all the engine clattering).
I just put on a Puig, I'm 6', and at full height it's way taller than I need it.

Spooky quiet. I like sound of that!
Had the Quiet Ride on my 2018. Wish he made them for the K1600. It was the best after market shield I have ever had on any of my bikes. Hands down the best. This man knows his sh…….
