Recently returned from the most amazing ride of my life to date.
This trip was 12 months in the planning and it outstripped any expectations that i had.
I flew out of Brisbane, Australia bound for San Francisco. Had 3 great days/nights in San Fran then picked up 2010 R1200RT from the team at California Motorcycle Adventures.
Without writing a full journal in this thread, the next 25 days saw the RT and I ride through freezing conditions and snow at Yosemite on Memorial weekend Saturday, next day was 100 deg as i rode into Vegas, a great evening with Carlos Santana at the Mandalay Bay, up to Utah through Zion and Bryce NP's and then sensational Colorado. Beartooth highway, Yellowstone, into Canada and up to Calgary. The Icefield Parkway through Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper then on to Kamloops.
Vancouver, Seattle, Down through Oregon on the coast along the 1 and then back into Cal to deliver the RT back.
What a hooot!!!!
The hospitality and camaraderie shown to me everywhere i went was remarkable and while I expected to be jaded towards the end, that really magic piece of coast road from Bodega Bay back to San Fran had me wanting to do a U turn and do the whole thing again back the other way.
Two more nights back at Fishermans Wharf enjoying the sun and seafood before the flight home.
I saw so much but so much more to see.
Maybe an East coast trip in 2014.
