Really.

Well, at least not while being the pilot! :D

1st time: (circa 2002) Got high centered on a rock under the skid plate on a downhill slope on a dirt two track trying to access a river campground at Taos. Was stuck for 5 minutes spinning the rear wheel trying to get traction until my downhill leg finally gave out. In desperation I jumped off the bike thinking I could land on my feet and somehow catch it - this idea did not work out well. Luckily dirt is pretty soft, so no damage except to my pride.

My passenger for this trip, my 13lb. toy poodle (hey, he's a total chick magnet) watched the whole thing from his perch - an enclosed kennel on the tank. All he could probably think was: WTF?

2nd time: (circa 2005) Got hit by a 70 mph "dust devil" (a tornado) while receiving a performance award from an AZ state police occifer in the middle of freaking nowhere. The LT was parked on the side stand facing into the prevailing wind. $300.00 in plastic parts damage and 1 hour collecting clothes that got blown over an acre of desert since my trailer also turned over and popped open. The copper actually took the ticket back and tore it up - it was my birthday and he felt sorry for me. :yeah:

Witnessed by wife and dog calmly standing by on the side of the road - and all they could probably think was: WTF?

3rd time: Today, dammit. While rocking my beloved 1979 R80 off the center stand I bumped the rear tire of the LT - also perched on the center stand - with the R80's front tire. The sonomabeach lurched forward and 800 lbs.crashed hard on the left side tip over bar in the garage. It looked like a beached whale. Ouch. Also witnessed by the dog and a darned good thing he was standing off to the side, he's obviously learned to stay away from me and the LT by now. :corn:

Except for a scuffed plastic cover and a little torch time re-aligning the bar - no damage!

The dog - by now - probably thinks I'm a total idiot. No more wife standing around telling me I'm a total idiot. I have a new t-shirt that says on the back: "If you can read this the bitch fell off".

All I can say is WTF. Life is good with an LT and a dog. ;)

I am guessing you dog is approximately as smart as my dog. This being the case, your dog KNOWS you are an idiot. He also does not care, and loves you anyway. :histerica

Good on ya Ron. I hope the trend continues, but you may have just jinxed yourself.

With a winning 2012 CCR raffle ticket, my grab-bag prize contained a DA pin! I'm really thrilled that someone was kind enough to release one of those coveted pins. My thanks goes out to their generosity.

Have fun,
Jer

When I bought my 1200LT in March of this year.....I picked it up FOR THE FIRST TIME off the side stand.....just a little too far ! Oh so slowly the bike fell over the other side where the dealer and my wife were standing like deer caught in headlights. All they did was step back a step and let the bike hit the ground. For some reason, neither of them jumped under the bike to cushion the fall....

THANK JEBUS! someone finally made a crack back at one of my jokes. I made a few on the MOA board, and everyone ignored them like I was seroius, and just being a jerk.

Anyway, my dog thought I was an idiot before he was even house broken....... :D

Also, is it not amazing how, when you do it right, just how darn S....L...O....W...L....Y an LT will fall over?!?

She is just tempting you to try to stop her...'show me who da' man is...c'mon, are you da' man or not?'

Just ignore her--let her fall..."who da' man now? Oh crap, she's leaking gas and I got a pick her up?"

Yes, she wins either way... :rotf:

If I'm reading this correctly..... I'm more impressed that Ron got to keep both the LT and the dog... and the RT! :D

Yep, and my shotgun too... :wave

Tom and Fred were coming out of a corn field on the opening day of Minnesota's pheasant season. Passing in front of them on the road was a hearse and long procession of cars, escorted by a police car. Tom stopped, called his dog, took his cap off, and stood quietly at the side of the road with his dog while the funeral procession passed by. Once it had passed, Tom and his dog rejoined Fred.

"Wow" Fred exclaimed, "You sure do show alot of respect for the dead!"

"Jane was a hell of a wife." Tom replied, "I'm going to miss her."
