I was over visiting Ron, the owner of Judson Cycle Sales BMW today. Just wanted to see how he was getting along. For those who don't know his wife passed away a couple of weeks ago. Anyway...he said BMWNA was sold out of '08 Lt's and that they were going to be selling '09 LT's starting this May. And that the next bike in the line was the new LT to be brought out as 2010 model the following Spring. :D
Has anybody heard this....

That is what he indicated. The big change would be in the 2010 model.
We both agreed that we hope it would be equipped with the GT engine but....he was pretty sure that was wishful thinking. He thinks it is going to be the new LT 6 cylinder version.

I heard that the only difference is between 2008 and 2009 is in 2009 there will only be black as a color option and there will be no com system. Everything else remains the same.

The big questions for a new model: has the final drive been fixed? slave cylinders fixed? engine and transmission seals fixed? trunk latch been fixed?

Will it come with headlights that do not have to be replaced in order to see at night? Adjustable handle bars in case in case the owner's arms are standard BMW issue?

My information is that the last LT's are in built now and the production run ends during May. The final run is black and the CD shuttle is no longer available as well as the footboards for the pillion.

I was told to make sure my order is in before end of March or I will not get another LT.

2010 is rumoured to be the time for a new LT.

My source is not a dealer but in Motorrad itself.

I heard BMW has a that bag of crack that you were missing. They just wanted to be sure you got it back. Seriously though, I agree 100%.

It's pretty funny that BMW can "sell out" of '08 LTs and have to start building '09 LTs, when they're exactly the same bikes except for maybe color. Seems like they could just build a few more and call them '08's. :)

Then again I've heard they have tied up their production line with F800GS bikes now, so maybe the '09 LTs are simply waiting for the next available production slot. And with rumors of the all-new LTs coming as '10 models, I can see the dealers wanting to get in "early" '09 bikes to catch those few sales from guys who can't wait.

Oh well, I figure my GT will be close to worn out by the time we see an all-new LT at a dealer, so I'll just wait in line for my test ride. :)

A Set of air or hydraulic shocks to adjust seat height would be nice, too, as everyone doesn't have the minimum 31" inseam requirement. Hell, give us power adjustable foot pegs and controls while they're at it. :D

My dealer is saying the 2010 model will be released in Feb 2009. He doesn't know with what changes though.... seems early to me...
