I put in an ad in the Classifieds a week ago yesterday to try and sell my 2006 K1200LT with Navigator II. So far have not had a single bite or inquiry. I think I have it priced reasonably, $600 below book without the Navigator. Is there no demand for used late model LT's? Have it advertised locally on Craigslist and also on IBMWR with the same results, none.

dsidler,

Good luck man. I just traded my '06 LT in on an '08 RT. Went with the trade because I'm not very good at waiting and because of the issue you seem to be experiencing.

I bought my '06 a couple of months ago from a lcoal dealer, but I would not have done so without it still being under factory warrenty and with the ability to extend that warrenty. I don't know if yours is still under warrenty or not, but it does make a significant difference. If it is under warrenty, I'd make sure any prospective buyer knows it as most extended warrenty companies (usually via a dealer) will still warrenty it.

As another FYI, being fully serviced also makes a difference. I'm sure you are aware of what it costs at the dealer to maintain, so local buyers want one ready to roll with no additional expenses required. Just look in the LT forum now about concern for higher milage, older LTs, and the expense of maintaining them to see what I mean.

Best of luck selling yours. FWIW, mine cost 17K with a Nav III. By the time I was finished with the extended warrenty, taxes, etc. it was closer to 19K. Good thing I put 6K down on it.

It is pretty common knowledge now that BMW has all but ceased production on the current LT line other than a limited production run of 2009 models. 2010 will bring the all new LT.

My experience is that used bikes sell best in Jan-Mar. Those planning, buying, and riding for this summer have already done so.

There is also a lot of supply in the used LT market.

As an FYI, I just bought an 06 LT w/NavII for $14,000. It also has the passenger floorboards, BMW CB, Luggage rack, Bags for all the compartments. It has every option except the 6 cd changer. 7000 miles.

I purchased my '06 in february. Original owner purchased new in December of '06, so I had almost two years of orginal warantee when I bought it. It did not have gps, but I have added a Zumo. It had just over 11k miles on it when I bought it, paid 15.8K

Original owner had dealer do all maintenance, I however do my own.

.... those bike as much as they are wonderful, they would not hold the price, and they tend to depreciate, used LT is the best buy.

The definition of something being priced right, is when the item for sale has a price tag on it that will attract buyers. I sold my 99LT last year for alot less than I thought it was worth. Unfortunately the buyer didn't really care about what I thought it should go for. He made me an offer and told me that if I didn't take it, there were at least a dozen other bikes of the same vintage that he could buy for the price he was offering me. I swallowed hard, sucked it up and faced reality. What I thought it was worth and what the market was willing to pay were two different things. If you really want to sell it, price it at a level that a buyer is willing to pay and it will move.

Be patient and give it time. The economy is circling the bowl so folks are being mighty picky about where they spend their money. And my guess is you'll end up going lower to sell it.

just a comparison and how much an 06 is worth. I just had a 06 totaled by an insurance company who gave me $17,700.00. Bike had 15000 miles on it, no bmw gps or intercomm system. Needless to say I was over joyed.
