use a scissor jack under the rear of the sump, wind it up and swing the centre stand down by hand

Ride the front & rear wheels onto a couple of 2" thick blocks of wood... you'll need someone to help hold the bike, hold the CS down with your foot, then both pull back on the bike... rear blocks may need to be a little higher if the tyre is dead flat.

My last flat, I was able to add enough air to get it up on the stand.
With two people, you can put a board behind the stand as you hold it down and push/lift it up. A 2x4 under the rear will help.

mmmm that will not work on a LT
But it will work on the K1200/K1300 R/S/GT - got to have the hole in the drive train.

I pushed the stand down with my foot and got a couple of guys to help me pull it backwards onto the stand. Then I got it fixed by jzeiler..........:D

You CAN remove the unit while the bike is on the side stand but getting the nut off the shaft is a bear.
