Discussion Starter #1
I just installed a new starter relay and the bike worked fine for two weeks. A few nights ago I went to start the bike while it was sitting on the center stand and it acted like the battery was dead (would grunt but wouldn't roll over). I went and got a new battery and installed it and had the same problem (still on the centerstand). I thought there might be a dead spot in the starter so I took it off the centerstand and put it in gear and pushed the bike and popped the clutch so the motor rolled over. After that is started fine. Now, if I leave the bike on the centerstand it won't start but as soon as I take it off it starts fine. I leave it on the sidestand now and it has been starting fine. I can live with this but I want to make sure it's part of a bigger problem. I'm new to posting here and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Get a can of electronic cleaner and do a blast @ the micro switch to the center stand..........could just be a little grunge................may need to check the alignment of it while your there but it could just be dirty.................one of those little things I've been through...............that whole 'cleanliness is next to godliness' was taken pretty seriously by the Bavarian folk.............. :D ..............a little maintenance and grease go a long way............................. ;)

Sorry that I could not be much help, but Micro switch on the center stand? I think not (at least on the bikes without the power stand). Unless it has something to do with the power center stand if it is not fully extended or retracted, otherwise the bike should start while it is on the center stand.
I have not heard of a starter relay going bad on anything newer than a 2002 model LT. The electronic relays have been pretty reliable, but the battery has to be fully charged.
Good luck, electrical problems can be a pain to find.

There is a Hall Effect sensor (no cleaning required) on the 05 centerstand but it has nothing to do with starting the bike. This is a good one so I'll have to think about it for awhile.

Try starting the bike on the center stand but with the side stand extended as well.
