It is with deep regret that I have to part with my trusty K1200 LT, we have had lots of fun together and great memories. It has developed an oil leak and the dealership tells me most of the seals have to be replaced (20 years old, I can't complain) and that it is $2,000 plus.

The bike is still drive able and works fine, I just cannot justify spending $2k on a 20 year old bike.

I offered it to Beemer Bone Yard, but they are not buying any bikes. If anyone wants to purchase it for parts then I am open to offers.

Thanks,
Billie

Billie;
Sorry to hear that you are selling but I get it. As these bikes are aging, maintenance is becoming more and more frequent.

What price are you hoping to get as a parts bike?

Also, where are you?

Thx;

Look, that is a beautiful bike. 2K$ that will surly be cheaper than replacing it. And think of all the memories. It is totally fixable. And they you have more years of great adventures.
I have put near 10,000$ into my K1300S over the years (crashes and preventative maintenance) I love the bike and glad I still have it. My friend in the garage just waits for me to let him loose on the road with me as ride along.
Find an independent bmw shop which has a lower per hour rate and see what happens. I realize at 20 years old you need a ton of work to bring it back to safe and good life. I think the dealer estimate might be low when you start looking around. But it is totally worth it.

If it gets parted out, I want the passenger's armrests! That is too nice of a bike to part out though, I would spend the money and get many more years of enjoyment out of it. :grin:

You are asking a lot from a noob. :rotf:
No, I don't think so, all kidding aside. There is clearly some interest among the masses if for nothing else, where it is and how many miles are on it.

Billie,
what neck of the woods are you/the bike in? how many miles does it have on it? Is the front fender the only thing wrong (besides the needed seals)? Everything else operate as designed?

I have seen it time and again on other forums that I belong to. A lot of newcomers make one or 2 posts asking a question or whatever then you never hear from them again. I'm a firm believer in forums for exchanging information but some don't seem to know how to participate.

I have a 99 that looks just like it but with a sidecar, would not hesitate spending that kind of money to keep it on the road, just sayin'
