There are better deals out there with much lower miles with only an incremental increase in price. Keep looking. I wouldn't jump at the first bike you come upon. Just my thoughts.
2000 1100rt
Hi I am new to this forum, and new to motorcycling. I am 41 and my wife wants to get into motorcycling and it's either I learn or I ride on back of hers....
So I am learning, I just completed the MSF class.
Anyways, a local BMW dealer has a 2000 1100RT for sale for $4,200... He is a trustworthy person with a small shop. The bike has 100k miles on it, the bike was bought in his shop when it was new, and the previous owner bought a new one. He has all the maintenance records, it has recieved regular maintenance, before it made the showroom floor, they went over it top to bottom including checking the valves.
So, like a lot of others, I am inquiring if is bike is a good deal, and if so, would it be a good machine for a newbie...

Just For your reference, I have located a 2000 1100RT with 36000 miles with service records. It also has had a recent transmission seal leak repaired, he is firm on 4500. I think that is a good price but a better price for me would have been 4000 but he would move
I need to decide if I will take it or keep looking I also found another one for 4000 with almost twice as many miles, service records are not quite as meticulous and there are some scratches from a tip over and a cracked foot peg plate. Let me know if you want the info on the bikev
