Nearing the end of the 12K service and looking for some ideas on what is a "swing arm check". One part of the Clymer manual suggest removing rear tire and disconnecting rear shock, then move arm up and down to check for smooth operation. And apparently no side to side play. Another reference says to remove the FD and do the same.

What sort of check are you folks doing?

Most just do a 12:00 / 6:00 wiggle check on the rear wheel to look for play in the FD pivot bearings. No one I know has done the swingarm check and I have removed about 10 of them (for other maintenance) and have never found one binding or loose.

It is also not part of the BMW 12K checks.

Thanks for the response. Kinda of figured it was probably not a big deal. This is the first 12K anyway.
