09 is the best year. Yes, I own one, so may not be objective. However, it is the last year for the best hand controls and I really do not like the new switches. I hate them.
I paid $14,000 for my 2009 in 2008. It was a demo bike with 5000 miles. Only problem I've had is 2 fuel strips and a fuel pump controller. Have about 50,000 on it now.
I bought an 07 RT with 8400 miles last fall for $10,500. Pretty much the same bike with only a couple minor differences. I would think considering the miles although not high by RT standards that the asking price is at least $2000 high. Does the bike come with any desirable farkles such as a top case, engine bars, custom seat, GPS, etc. The right combo of extras MIGHT make the price a bit easier to swallow.
Make the dealer an offer, not much to loose. 12.500$ at a dealership would be close to making everyone happy. Still a little rich but then it is a dealer and it is summer.
Seems a bit high. In 09 I paid 13K for an 07 with a zumo 550 and about 4K miles, but no esa. No negotiations, and based on what I have seen on various forums and craigs list, that was a pretty decent price. I bought from a private owner.
Average retail is probably 13-14K or so, depending on options, mileage and what it comes with. Trade in is around 10K.
I paid 17 and change for a new 2009 leftover on the end of 2010. I got the 49L top case with it too. I could have gotten the newer model for a couple Gs more, but I didn't like the switch gear or the colors they had, if you can call them that.
Last December I paid a private owner $16K for a 2010 RT fully loaded with 9,600 miles: Radio package (not blue tooth), side bag with liners liners, tank bag, Cee BAily shield, Sargent seat, topcase, big foot, ESA, Highway pegs, GPS 660, the rest of BMW standard items. Just needed a front tire. 22,655 on it now. Moved from 06 LT.
