Kendon Trailer Wiring

I just purchased a Kendon single rail trailer off of ebay. I have a question about the wiring. At one time the previous owner changed the tail lights and the connectors that he used are corroding. I want to change the connectors to something that is waterproof. Should I just solder the wires and put heat shrink around them? Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?
Thanks!!!!
