Trailer wiring question

I'm picking up a trailer from a friend of mine. I'm pulling the wiring out of the bike and there is no break in the wiring between the isolator relays and the connector for the trailer lights. I'm thinking about cutting the wire bundle about 10 inches from the relay to pull the wires out. Then using a male/female spade connectors to retach when I put them on my scoot. Good/bad idea?

Re: Trailer wiring question

I'm not a big fan of those rinky-dink spade connectors so I bought a
Hopkins trailer kit and rewired the hitch
(a little extra work)
and spliced the other end past the relays like you were saying.
Now I got all the wires in one plug - clean and easy to use.
