Hitch Doc hitch

For the money, I'm leaning towards the Hitch Doc setup. My only problem is, that from the picture I've seen, its pretty ugly from the side. Does it come off easily enough to only have it on when needed? Looks like a pretty simple installation that could be done in a few minutes prior to a trip?
