Lehman & BMW trike?

I heard a rumor about three weeks ago that BMW was coming out with their own model trike (it'll be the one front wheel type), built by Lehman trikes. I've checked Lehman's web site, but see no mention of it. Anyway, anyone confirm or deny the truth of this rumor? It will supposedly be coming out for the 2009 model year.

I personally like my Hannigan trike, but would like to see other mfgs create kits for the LT (or other BMW models). No competition means high prices and no after market for other add-ons for the trike. Honda on the other hand has three different kits for their GW and lots of other goodies for GW owners.

I like my LT, but wish there were more of them around to get some attention.

Re: Lehman & BMW trike?

I'd be amazed if that were true.
trikes are more popular in Europe and I'd expect BMW to team up with a European company if........................
Naw, they'd just do it themselves.....but, I doubt it.

I'm just the rumor bearer. Source swore it was from the mouth of a BMW rep.

Re: Lehman & BMW trike?

EML Sidecar does Gold Wing trikes and has a dealer in most countries.
emlsidecar.com ..Germany, Finland, Italy etc....
There are also many small shops that build the VW and V8 type trikes.
I received a copy of a magazine that was devoted to trikes in Europe some time ago and remember reading an article about how popular they always have been in Europe....
My favorite was a K-bike with the sidecar and bike all contained within the same fairing....(kind of like Hannigans tri-car)....Krauser made it I believe.

Re: Lehman & BMW trike?

Harley Davidson is offering a trike for 2009 through an agreement with Lehman Trikes. The Trike is the standard 2 wheels in the rear and will be in show rooms very soon. It lists for $29,995 without reverse. Reverse is another $1500. Check out the HD web site for further details. HD also has a patent on a trike front end that articulates so you can lean it in corners just like a 2 wheeler. No info on future plans for that idea. Maybe HD is testing the waters with it's Lehman design first. If it turns out to be popular they might go with something new and radical. We have a new Hannigan conversion on our 05 LT and could not be happier. We ride it almost daily for everyday shopping and errands. You can do that here in San Diego the year around and we really save on gas and of course there is the fun factor.

Re: Lehman & BMW trike?

I inherited a 1999 BMW Lehman Trike that was built by a mechanic at Lehman factory for his wife. It is a concept trike that was called Mirage. I believe it is a 1 of 30 that was built. I am having a hard time finding any info or history. Seems like a phantom
