Question Looking for a sport tourer/ dual sport

We spend our winters in the Phoenix area and this year I am going to be without a bike for the first time, unless I find something. I prefer an R, RT, or GS but could also do with a K. I need a classic fairly upright riding position. Although my bias is towards a Beemer I am not brand restrictive and the kicker is that I would like to keep my budget to $5000. I am a rider, not a mechanic so this shouldn't be a project bike either. And oh yes it will be used occasionally for 2-up riding too.

If anyone knows of a possibility within those parameters, very much appreciate your tips and leads.

Cheers

Re: Looking for a sport tourer/ dual sport

just posted on the AZBeemers.org site

Don't mess around with a wimpy, girly wee-strom when you can have a MAN-STROM adventure bike! It's ready to go, and outfitted with everything you need to go on-road or off and have yourself some big fun! I bought this during the summer from a friend, and was beginning to prep it for a ride to Prudhoe Bay Alaska, but last week I switched directions and bought a new Super Tenere instead. (Yes, my FJR is for sale, too...look for it in another posting soon).

It's priced to sell at just $4,495, and located just a few miles from Portland OR. If you don't want the Jesse luggage I'll remove it and adjust the selling price. I can also make a very nice skid-plate and some more goodies available if you want to pay extra for them with the bike.

88,000 senior-ridden miles (I'm not the senior, it's the guy who owned it before me!)
Jesse Odyssey II luggage & brand-new mounts, black, matching keys (90 liters combined) LINK
Renthal handlebar with crossbar
Acerbis hand guards (heavy-duty!)
Race Tech gold valve system front forks
Suzuki tank bra
Shad 37L locking top box
Suzuki center-stand
Givi crash/protective bars
Custom seat by Mr. Ed's Moto
Bridgestone Battlewing tires (approx. 10-20% left)
NEP throttle-lock
Factory service manual

Service Grab-bag including new, ready-to-install:
Front fork bushings & seals
Front wheel bearings & seals
Rear wheel bearings & seals
Brake caliper piston seals

Recent service including:
New chain and sprockets
Valves checked
New plugs
Oil and filter change
Air filter cleaning
Throttle-body sync
New fuel pump/ filter in the tank
Battery has recently been replaced

Note that the pictures below were taken before I installed the Jesse luggage and custom seat

Talking Re: Looking for a sport tourer/ dual sport

Thanks for the leads guys. The R has been sold before I could get to see it. I am in Phoenix now so the Vee is too far away. Anyway I can pursue the ads personally at this point. Kicked a lot of tires but not the right fit just yet. The good news is that its a great buyers market.

Red face Re: Looking for a sport tourer/ dual sport

I just picked up an R1100GS that matches my needs perfectly. 2 days and 800 miles so far. Except, man that corbin seat is hard - gotta go ice my butt.
