Re: Prescott

I'll on a week long trip through NoCal and points beyond - Laguna Seca for a GP race, Yosemite, Sequoia, Lake Tahoe, etc. - with the K1600. The toughest part is the several hundred miles of desert heat to ride through before getting to cooler weather. I think I might leave in the middle of the night...

Re: Prescott

Love, love, love it. I've only got about 1,200 miles on it so far - looking forward to getting some miles (in cooler weather) on it. The only concern I have is how comfortable the stock seat will be for long distances....I will find out soon.

I loved my LT's - and if they hadn't come out with the K1600, I'd still be very very happy with the LT. For me, this is the bike I was hoping they would make - between the strong engine, lighter weight, great handling and removable bags/trunk, it provides me the flexibility of having an sport/sport-touring/touring bike rolled into one.

Have a good ride up to Prescott - hopefully it's a little bit cooler!

Re: Prescott

Scott,
Yes, I did have a Victory Vision. I had sold my '03 LT before I moved down from MN, so thought a VV might be a good blend between a cruiser and a tourer. As you know, the look/design can be polarizing - most either love the look or hate it. I liked that it wasn't a "typical" motorcycle and it wasn't that often you would see one out on the road (like the LT among all the Goldwings) But to be honest, it ended up not being the bike for me and sold it with only about 1,000 miles on it. I think I was spoiled with the LT. The VV was comfortable - the seating position was much more lazyboy cruiser - but not a good position to be in when trying to enjoy a spirited ride through the twisties. I never took it on a long trip (I have done a couple iron-butt rides on the LT) The VV is long and lumbers. Power isn't there and the brakes are only fair. The wind protection was good, but you notice the heat from the engine. Now perhaps compared to a Harley, it might be similar or better in some aspects, but I was coming from a more sport touring/touring and less of a cruiser style, so it really wasn't up to the standard that the LT had set.

Re: Prescott

Thank you for the info. I kinda like the look of the VV and thought that with 106 CI it would be powerful, but I have not done any research or test ridden one. The closest i have come to one is pushing it backwards (no reserverse?? ) so the owner could get out of his parking spot

Re: Prescott

The opinions stated here are of my own, and may not be the same for others. Check with your doctor before spending your money.

The bike has good low-end torque, so in town and from a stop is easy to get underway, but mid range and highway speeds takes some down shifting and is far from sporty. I never had the chance to ride it two-up or loaded down with gear in the bags/trunk so hard to say how it would be as a real long-distance touring bike. (particularly when you get up in elevation - the loss of HP would be even more noted)

Didn't intend on highjacking the thread about your run up to Prescott to one about the VV, but it sounds like your bride highjacked your plans anyway... Have a good time at the lake!
