Headed to Florida

Just thought I would throw this out there...I am headed to Daytona for a fast turn around over Mothers Day. Leaving Northern Indiana on Weds May 7th and headed back on Monday May 12th. Just going to see and old friend that is not doing real good. If interested on going part way or all the way, contact me @ [email protected] or by phone @ 219-561-3744.

Cheers, Woody

Regards,
Woody aka SoberBiker

Re: Headed to Florida

Sorry about your friend. Florida during the month of May is peak love bug season. They will do a number on anything you ride or drive. I stay away from central Florida during May for that reason. Do some searching about love bugs on the Internet. They really are a pain in the rear.

Re: Headed to Florida

I came back from Tampa about a week ago and the Love Bugs are flying. They are not too active in the early morning but you'll be in for a mess if ride through there around noon. Especially along the interstate.

Rain will keep them down too.

Re: Headed to Florida

Those poor folk up north only get four seasons,
Florida is the land of many seasons,
Snowbird season just ended,
Love bug season will be here for the next couple of weeks,
that's followed by tourist season which is also bikini and boating season,
then hurricane season which coincides with the wet season and summer,
then a couple of months of dry season followed by fall and then the winter tourist season,
the fun never ends.

There's a lot of different ways to get those love bugs of your bike,
for me the easiest is to take a good sized soaking wet towel and hang it over the windshield and fairing for about 15 minutes
then just wipe them right of.

Re: Headed to Florida

Thanks all for the Love Bug update...which actually I had forgotten about. I had lived in Daytona for about 5 years but haven't traveled into the state at this time of year for quite some time. I'll be sure to get some pics of the critters.

I'm taking a detour on the way down to do the Tail of the Dragon (again) and to revisit Wheels in time. Love that place...if you have never been...it is well worth the price of admission.
