Talking Routing Advice Needed...no GPS

Can ya believe it? No GPS...

Looking for the quick "Slow" way around Atlanta from Newnan to Canton that includes NO superslabs. As a native of Atlanta, I have a good way to get to Marietta. No brainer.

Butt, my ultimate destination would be Gatlinburg, TN. Looking for the best route that would be relatively traffic-free on Saturday mornings, relatively quick and scenic where possible.

So far, it looks like going to Canton, then 76 toward Blairsville, then, Murphy. Been that route before but can't remember the best way to get from Marietta to Canton with NO slabwork...

Anybody familiar with the fast "slow" route?

Unhappy What?!?!?!

Now you just wait one cotton-pickin' minute there MISTER! You bought OLD SKOOL! You must live OLD SKOOL! You need to navigate by the sun, moon, stars, . . . and if need be, a compass. But that's it! The words Gee Pee Ess need to be erased from your vernacular permanently! And while I'm at it! All this talk about iPods and Satellite radios has to GO, as well!

There! I hope I've made myself clear!

Welcome to the '30s Dave.

Hey, who said anything was wrong with techno-geeks beeing in da closet? Remember what our parents used to say about children are to be seen not heard? Well, I figger that I can be SEEN as old-fashioned but underneath....using stealth mode, I can do the high tech stuff and most folks will think I got a NOSE for drivin in the right direction!

Wish I had a GPS but all da cash is gonna go to one BIG farkle...well, not really big...more like a LITTLE farkle.

Besides, if I gave up all the modern conveniences, I would lose the cell phone, tv, ATM, Motown music, *$$, Deliverance, ... (wait a minute, Linda is STILL frightened by THAT movie!).

Some thangs ya just can't do without....well, I could do without the tv.

Hmmm....would grovelling help???

OK...OK. I'm done yellin'.

On a more serious note, you should give Tom Gallo a hollar. I don't know anyone who knows North GA like that boy does.

Sorry Dave. Quickest way is I-75 north to I-575. It will take you to Canton in about an hour. Sorry I don't know the slow ways from that side of town.

575 is not too bad; of course as each mile strolls by you are one mile closer to the mountains!

Ah-hah!

Problem solved. Timing is everythang!

Saturday morning traffic is directly proportional to the time of day...sooo, motoring thru about 8 to 9-ish ayem, I can have my choice at 60mph.

Now, to start packin'.

Thanks, guys!
