Visit in Florida

Hello to all !
We have a project for February, 2015. Come to visit Florida and to marry us at the same time! Discovered holidays and honeymoon ! But just 1 week.
If somebody can help us for project, it will be nice.
We roll with K1200LT + home-made trailer for 9 years. We live in a small town of 1000 persons in the South of France, to Labastide du Temple (70 km of Toulouse).
Our e-mail address for those who want to come to visit us or to answer our request : [email protected]

I think to rent a Harley Davidson at Miami. We want to sea : Miami, Key West, Orlando and Cap Canaveral. But maybe that there is other one of better to see, we wait for your notices.

Bye for now!

Laurent and CÚline

Re: Visit in Florida

You'll have a difficult time covering all the areas you want to see in 1 week. Miami to Key West is probably 200 miles. At 45 miles per hour. Long drive, long time. Same distance for Miami to Orlando. Plus all the stuff there is to do and see in each location. It's doable, but you'll miss a lot. Good luck on your planning and upcoming marriage!

Re: Visit in Florida

Peterson's in North Miami is close to the Miami airport and a really nice dealer to work with for the rental.

As someone has already mentioned. That's a lot to see in one week but map it out on Google and use that as a rough guide and see how you feel. They keys are really nice and you may want to spend a few days there. Cape Canaveral is a half day visit, but Orlando can take weeks to see everything. Feel free to keep in touch and good luck!

Re: Visit in Florida

What Lee said is mostly right Miami to Key west is closer to a hundred miles but it will take you a minimum of three hours to drive it,

Also being from a small town in France you may not realize how big of a city Miami and Orlando is,
have you ever ridden a motorcycle on a six lane highway at 70+ mph
with a car less than a car length from your rear fender
while others are passing you on the left,
right and cutting in front of you if there's more than a car length there.

There are many beautiful places to visit in Florida
but Miami and Orlando are not very good places to ride a motorcycle
especially if you don't know your way around.

Take a ride to Key west, (go during the week if you can, traffic doubles on the weekend)
take your time maybe spend the night, it's a beautiful ride you'll never forget.
go the speed limit or it will cost you $$$.

Rent a car and go see South beach in Miami, have lunch, walk the beach.
Drive that same car to Cape Canaveral (very interesting)

Still want to ride and see some of the real Florida, ride across the state to Naples on 41
you'll see alligators laying on the banks of the canal next to the road,
take an airboat tour.

(alligator alley is now nothing but an interstate, nothing to see there)

Ride around Lake Okeechobee through the sugar cane

Still want to go to Orlando, rent a car, nothing there but hotels,
theme parks and traffic, traffic, traffic.

I was a kid in the mid 60's in Cocoa Beach. So I might be biased here in saying that Cape Canaveral is one of the coolest places ever. Spend the extra dollars and take one of the additional bus tours. For example we took the "NASA Then and Now" tour. It brought home how "by the seat of your pants" the early days of manned spaceflight were.

Re: Visit in Florida

Okey for everything. We shall arrive on January 31st and shall leave 7 fevrier on 2015.
We shall rent a car, simpler for us because of luggage. We shall visit just Miami, Keys and Everglades. If there is of free, we can eat one evening together in this region.
Thank's for all. We will married the 4 february in Miami. I hope sunshine for photo.
See you soon.....

Welcome to Flatlarda.....

Hans gave you a lot of great information and if by chance you happen to make it over to the "Best" (west) coast, you might enjoy a personally guided tour of The Florida aquarium.. I'm one of the safety divers and it would by my pleasure to walk you'all around...

Many get married in front of the big tank too! (that requires a special arraignment)

Get in touch with me ahead of time and I'll put something together...
