Tellico Plains Motorcycle Outfitters

I rode up to Tellico Plains today to pick up a few things at Mike's store. I was shocked to find the building empty. I checked his website and found out he retired and closed March 1. I hope he finds time to do some serious riding.

I was surprised that he closed the shop rather than selling it off. It was a destination place and Iíve bought many items there over years. Oh well, perhaps something new will pop up in the area.

Did the ice cream shop across the street close too? If I remember correctly, his wife owned that.

Yes Mike's wife ran the ice cream shop. It was closed Sunday but I didn't look inside to see if it was empty. My bet is they closed it too since they are "retiring".

Although it's a little late for me now, I wish I knew their formula. I've know Mike since he worked at the BMW Dealership in Orlando. He and his wife a great folks but damn, they're way too young to RETIRE! I surely wish them well and hope we get to visit during one of the Iron Horse gatherings.
