Exclamation STC II . . . What I learned this year.

I learned that . . .
  1. You can't put a value on true friendship. (It's just a shame that this is something we all take for granted. )
  2. Making new friends is also pretty darn priceless.
  3. A "flatlander" can ride the twisties pretty darn good.
  4. The Iron Horse makes a pretty mean Prime Rib dinner.
  5. Waterproof gear is NOT as "waterproof" on a Ninja, as it is on an LT.
  6. 800 miles on a Ninja in one day is not the same as 800 miles on an LT in one day.
  7. You just can't find sweet-tah, collard-greens, and fried okra (no matter how hard you try) here in Ohio...like the ones in the South.
  8. The "K-Buzz" on the pre-'05 LTs is actually is more valuable than I had previously suspected. Just ask the girls around the campfire...after they've had a few leetle bottles of Chardonnay.
  9. Susan Galpin was born to be in front of a group of people . . . at all times. What an awesome gal.
  10. Lastly, that I can still screw up...ROYALLY! Just when you think you have this thing called "life" figured out. (Sorry again Don. )
Thanks to all who attended for making this year's 'STC for Riders' a real joy. Memories for life!

Joe, thanks again for the HID low-beam install!

I had to go to BMW of Atlanta yesterday to have the drive shaft-final drive seal replaced and I showed off my HID low beam, they thought it was cool. And while I was there, unbeknownst to me, the Air Show with the Blue Angles was at Dobbins AFB. Now for those who don't know where BMW Of Atlanta is, it is exactly at the end of Dobbin's runway! So, we could literally see the pilots; WAY TOO COOL! I won't mention the fact that BMW of Atlanta was also cooking FREE brats and hamburgers yesterday either!

Collard Greens?!?! Ain't that why they invented Round Up??

Three other 'thangs' I don't eat:

Brussel Sprouts - they's made for pickin' early and usin' 'em in paintball guns!!

Eggplant - those are for target practice when ya run outta skeet pucks!

Calamari - they's made just in case we ever run outta rubber bands!!

Eeeewe!

Yup, you're right on that - 'cept, every once in a while, Cheryl'll grab a fresh bunch of As-per-grass, clean 'em up a leetle, chop off the fat end a tad and throw 'em in a bowl of Soy sauce and Sesame seed oil and some garlic buds and lett'em swim in that overnight - then they's pretty good. Kinda slimey like boiled Okra (hey, there's another on my short list!!), but I just eat'em with my eyes closed, cuz they look like a mixture of worms in carb cleaner and brake fluid gone bad!!

Thumbs up Liver = yummy!

Chances are pretty good that your mom (rest her soul) didn't know the first thing about preparing liver properly. Talk to Lynn Keen about eating liver. He didn't know it could be so good until he had "good" liver. His mom used to destroy it too.

Ho, Grif - since we've done food-jacked this thread, how you feel 'bout calf fries? Yummers or bummers?

BTW, Joe. Good list of 'larn'ed thangs' for the year. And I flat don't know how you managed doin' all those trip miles on the Ninja. I'd still be in traction!

Ride safe, Joe. Cya in GA.

Yea, I just may need to come down to that GA Mtn Rally...we'll see.

As for riding the Ninja...last Monday, I did 780 miles and that was definitely just a leeetle too long in that saddle. About 100 miles too long. It was my neck muscles that felt it the most. My butt and legs were fine. I'm going to limit my days on the Ninja to 650 from now on. Or...at least until my next trip.

What I leraned at STC!

1. Folks that ride BMW's are cool!

2. It is easy to move the trunk back!

3. It rains (snows) alot in the mountains, mountains make their own weather!

4. I always wondered why you guys complain about the K-Buzz? When two up I keep it at 4200 rpm's.

5. Highway Ottomans, although they look funny hanging out there, are very comfortable.

6. Straight highways are for people that dont ride, Direct routes are for people in a hurry!

Somehow it took us three days to get to STC and three days to get home. We only live 650 miles from Stecoah. Somehow we put 2035 miles on "The Beerburner" while traveling for STC! I think it is that GPS, it got us lost. I just replaced it, sent the first one back because we kept getting lost. I guess I need to take lessons on how to use it! We headed home and ended up in Nashville, that is northwest not southwest of Stecoah. Our next stop was Birmingham, Al! I must have it in ZIGZAG mode or something. It is a wonder we didn't end up at Griff's!
