For those at STC II and others

Some of us had a chance to ride behind Phil Scriber, usma78, at STC II this past weekend. He had a very unique item attached to the rear of his bike that lit up with a very interesting message. Several folks wondered where to get one, well here you go.

Cheers.

On His Ride,
Steve

If Phil wants to post what his message says, then that is great. But me, I don't talk that way.

Talking Oh that tale

Well, since it had been rainin' on and off three days before I got there, I didn't trust the side stand on the soft stuff, so I puts Rover up on the center stand. Well over night, the center stand sinks into the ground so that I have 4 points of contact. So's as I'm trying to get her off the center stand she decides since she's already leaning way far right she's going over on her side. Couldn't get enough grip on the damp ground to get her up by myself, so John, jzeiler, helped me get her up straight. Thanks again, John.

As for the shocks Dick, now I know why people go to Wilbers, Works, or Ohlins. Rover was like a wallowin' whale on the originals, especially two up. Can't wait until mine get out of the shop. We be waitin' on parts.

I'm still waiting to see what Phil's little scrolling billboard/license plate frame thingy says. I saw it on the lift during his service at STC but it wasn't turned on. Guess I'll have to wait for Phil to tell the rest of us what it says!

It only lights up when you hit the brakes. I liked the idea and am probably going to get one sometime in the future.

I assumed that was the case, but was curious what it said. Does it flash something like "Back Off", or can it be programmed to say... something else?

Or is it just a flashing brake light?

It can be programmed as either another brake light or you can program up to 4 different messages. I'm not sure that you couldn't program one spot as an extra brake light and the other three with messages. You can read if from a decent distance too.

If you could change the message on the fly to meet different situations, then that would be .

To be honest, my message is a little randy, but you can change messages easily. You pre-program a remote control with 4 messages and all you have to do is walk behind your bike, hold the key fob device behind the light, press the proper button and the message changes.

For those curious, my primary message is:

"Don't get too damn close. If I fall off this big bastard, I'm going to need some help!!!"

Hey Dave,

I followed Phil most of the afternoon after he serviced his bike. I thought that wiggley back end problem I had was from oil he was dripping on the road.

Steve,

Just because you were behind me, I kept hitting the "Spray Grease" button that Dave helped me install while you had your back turned.

Dave, Inky is just fine - Thank you for your time, patience and expertise.
