may be moving to Kinston/snow Hill NC - help?

Hey guys,

I am going for a second interview tomorrow for a job in Snow Hill, NC. If I could ask a favor - anyone in the general area, keep your eyes/ears open for a rental house of some sort. I'll have to find a place to live pretty quick while we sell our house in Mt Airy.

I'm supposed to be a pretty likely candidate for this job from what I've been told, so I'm trying to do some groundwork, just in case I do get an offer.

Then the fun begins.

Thanks
Randy

Randy,
I can't offer more than wishes for good luck.

One thing you'll find out about Snow Hill. It's hot as H-E-DOUBLE-HOCKEY-STICKS there in the summer! Sound like false advertising to me!

WEll, I got it. I'm not sure what the official title is, but it's something like Equipment/Communications Coordinator for the NC Motorcycle Safety Education program. I will be responsible for all the state-owned trainer bikes in the motorcycle classes. Plus a state-owned motorcycle of my own to do the job on, when possible. I think it is a Buell Ulysses with hard cases.

I expect it to be hot - heck, it's hot up here in the summer. Maybe I can sweat off some weight...

Hi, Randy - congrats on the new job. You sounded pretty upbeat in earlier posts, and that surely helped in acquiring the second interview and ensuring everything went smoothe-smoothe. Hey, see if you can talk the top dog in the program to lobby for a BMW fleet!! Best to ya, and drop us a progress report now and then.

The "top dog" is a harley guy right now - but he's been a Winger and others, so it's not out of the realm. Plus we'll be dealing with all the dealerships and maybe we can find more "bargains" out there. Apparently they got a really good deal on TWO of these when Buell closed down. I'll be around - I still got my LT and probably will for a while. And the internet is everywhere. : )

Congratulations, Randy. Sounds like the new job is right up your alley! Are you still going to be teaching any of the classes?

Re: may be moving to Kinston/snow Hill NC - help?

Randy,

Congratulations on our new job.
Don't worry about the heat.
Broke the code over four years ago
when I bought a Veskimo cooling vest with backpack.
No more additional weight than a Camelbak with water.
Freedom of movement getting on/off the bike.
Good for at least three hours before recharge.
Much better than my evaporative or phase-change vests.
Continous cooling at 68 degrees.

Re: may be moving to Kinston/snow Hill NC - help?

Lee,

Yes I will have to continue teaching to keep my certification, which is a requirement of the job. And yeah, it sounds like my perfect job. We'll see.

And I will check out the cooling vest. Most of the job itself at office and motorcycle shop is air conditioned. But the riding part is hot no matter if I'm here or there in July. Maybe I can sweat off some weight....

Thanks ya'll
Randy

Randy,
Hope your all settled in. I'm over in jacksonville and new to the forum. Would like to talk about getting a tech session going on the coast area since no real service around here. I just completed a jensen install on mine. Let me know when your in the area!

Re: may be moving to Kinston/snow Hill NC - help?

I'm here every week, during the week. Still commuting home on weekends. But yeah, I thought about a tech session too. We can probably use the garage here at work - lifts, general tools, etc. Even a tire changer, but I have no idea how it works.

talk to ya soon
