Busy Roads at Spring Training Camp

Just took a look on killboy.com and we are looking at a lot of traffic in the area this coming weekend at STC, to include BMW Riders of Long Island, Volvo C30 group, Roadster at the Gap (Facebook), Rotary Rally (probably Mazdas), Celicatech (web club), VW R32 (web club) and Cherokee Thunder Rally.

I rode the Dragon last weekend going to and coming from Knoxville. NC-28 from north of Franklin to US-76 has new tar snakes. On the Dragon there was a dirt slide, road is clear, but there are k-rails as barriers on the right side on the right in the last half headed north. Some trees down, but cut back and clear of the road.

Tennessee state troopers out in force. One escort an errant semi rig north on 129 in the really ugly twisties around a corner. And one really nice sargent that I got to meet up close and personal headed south just before the climb out of the river valley.

For everyone riding, please be careful and we'll see you there.

On His Ride,
Steve

As VP of the LIBMW Riders club, only TWO of our club members are down in your area this week- Harold and Carlos. I think they're staying at the Ironghorse. Be sure to give them a hard time!

Cool!! Thanks for finding that. We sure have fun even without a motorcycle that trip. I have a pinched nerve and go see the spine Doc on Tuesday to see what they will do to fix it. Here's hoping to no impact to bike riding!

Good luck with the doc, John. Hope it's nothing that a little more hanging upside down won't cure! Keep us posted.

I hope you and Jean are on the bike next time I see you. Tell Jean we want to see those pin wheels spinning on the back of the LT.

John, any news of the pinched nerve you'd like to pass on? I'm sure many of us are concerned and would like to know what the doc said, if you'd like to share it.

Re: Busy Roads at Spring Training Camp

Here is the deal. Herniated disc in the L2-L3 with deteriorated L4-L5 on(that part is old age) . Started PT today with time on the traction table and electro therapy. If all goes well I will get the feeling back in the groin. I am cleared to ride but I need to stretch and do a few more PT sessions before I go on any long trips. I told the nurse that was good news as I had a short trip planned for next weekend. Pensacola. Her eyes got big. She about fell over when I said the longer trip was Memorial Day weekend to Duluth!! The Pensacola trip will be the test to see if I am good to go for Duluth. I am greatful that there was only pain the first day and just discomfort since.

Re: Busy Roads at Spring Training Camp

Does the doc think PT (physical terrorism!) will correct the herniated discs? Sounds like this could be an ongoing process. What's the prognosis for the lumbars?

Re: Busy Roads at Spring Training Camp

We just have to wait and see. He wants to try this first before anything more drastic. The Pensacola trip will let me know if I am ready for Duluth. I am not lifting anything heavier than my ... well you know. Sure hope I don't drop the LT or I could be stranded!!! I don't think Jean can pick it up!

Re: Busy Roads at Spring Training Camp

I had the same disc herniate and toughed it out for 2 months before having surgery to repair it. I wish I had done it sooner. The neurosurgeon used endoscopy to do the repair. Believer it or not, it was an outpatient procedure. In had the surgery at 10am and went home at 3pm the same day. I was out of work 1 week. For about 2 weeks I had burning pain in the groin area but when it healed there was no more pain. That was 17 years ago and I've had no more problems. Since I've said that now I will probably blow it out again next time I pick up something heavy
