International Motorcycle Show - Charlotte

A few of us are going to the IMS in Charlotte this weekend. We plan to meet to eat and then head over to the show. Still working out the finer points. Anyone else going?

Going on Saturday around 10

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying " I'll try again tomorrow".

Not sure yet, Rich. Michaeldale is coming from the east. I just messaged him that we could meet at the BMW dealership and go from there. Mike says he'll be leaving around 9:00 and will take 2-1/2 hours to get to CLT.

Do you know anything about parking near the convention center? I know there are lots in the area, but I don't know which ones will be open, which will fill up first, etc.

Not being from the Charlotte area. I looked on line and this looks like the closest parking lot to the convention center. Their web-site states: $8.00 parking but the last time it was up-dated was 10/2011. Who knows what it might be this weekend. I found some $5.00 lots but they look several blocks away. All state "okay' for motorcycles. Good luck...

If anyone has a better idea or more current information. Please speak up. Thanks in advance.

I am going to the dealership around 10 AM to have a donut and coffee, then I plan on taking the light rail into town from Pineville. I know parking is $15 at the Convention Center and there may be cheaper rates around, but this is a good excuse to use the light rail that I have never used before. I understand they do not have cheaper rates for bikes. Not sure though.

Rich, will also be at the dealer sometime around that time. Our tail gunner (Michaeldale) from Southern Pines will be rolling up sometime around noon. If he could only get that LT to go little faster!!! Were also looking at the light rail as away to get to the show.

You should have just dragged one of both with you! They'd get over being mad, eventually!

Re: International Motorcycle Show - Charlotte

Sorry I missed you guys, got bumped into by too many pirate wannabes and had to leave. Not really impressed this year for some reason. The bmw display was way overcrowded and the gt and gtl looked really scuffed up. Did like the Urals next to them though. Looks like all the brands are copying each other with the styles. Nothing really stood out.

Re: International Motorcycle Show - Charlotte

I talked to one of the vendors and we discussed the turnout for the day. He said there probably wasn't 50 people including the vendors there Friday night. I may have just found a new day to go!

Re: International Motorcycle Show - Charlotte

Show organizers told our club that turnout was over 50% higher than previous location in the SE. Vendors were mostly pleased. I went early on Sunday and it was not super crowded at all. I did enjoy the show. I just want to know when Triumph is going to start offering cruise control on their cruisers?
