Devil's triangle and the Dragon's Tail

I'm leaving Gorham Me today headed for Rosman N. C.

I'm looking for items of interest while I'm in the area riding twisties.

I'm allowing two days to be in the area between Rosman NC and Knoxville Ten and then head into Georgia.

Best from gorham ME

Re: Devil's triangle and the Dragon's Tail

One of the best rides in southern WV, along the WV / VA border......it Starts in Bluefield, WV.... about 90 miles of twists and turns and awesome scenery.... Making myself homesick!

It is route 16 Tazewell, VA to Marion VA. Then go under the interstate and head to Sugar Grove and then to Shatley Springs. Great place to eat. Go further and get on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Head north and take the first exit. Biker bars there. Beer and snack. Head north to Independence, VA and on to Wytheville, VA. Stay on route 52 over Big Walker Mtn. Stay on 52 north and go over East River Mtn. Back Home. What a Day!.

Then you can head to a boring ride called the Tail of the Dragon... Tame by comparison!

check out thse pictures..

Add a little side trip to one of the strangest geographical wonders in the area called Burke's Garden. The Vanderbilt's tried to buy it for their home but the land owners would not sell. They ended up in Asheville, NC at a place called the Builtmore house.

Re: Devil's triangle and the Dragon's Tail

Dan,

Brings back memories, 30+ years ago I was riding that route on a 69 R50 when I saw some folks playing string music in their yard, turned around and went back. Of course they were playing bluegrass, I picked the bass, sang tenor and spent the night with folks who were strangers only during the introductions.
