Re: Charlotte, NC

I'll be there, probably around 11:00. Can't wait to see the new 1600, even though I'm several years from buying a 2012!

Re: Charlotte, NC

My company's safety director gets several motorcycle magazines and has copied articles about the K1600 a couple times. He just gave me one today, I think from Cycle World. Very good write-up. The writer said the GTL was FAST and the GT was even FASTER. 60-0 mph in 117 feet. One thing he wrote piqued my interest. He said he was riding fast through a turn and applied the brakes hard, to the point of having the tires howling, but not to the point that they let go. He said the bike's line never changed. The MSF teaches not to enter a turn so fast that you have to roll off the throttle or brake while in the turn. I'm well-aware of trail braking. This account didn't sound like that. Plus rolling off the throttle causes the bike to drift to the inside of the turn. Rolling on the throttle causes the bike to drift to the outside of the turn and want to stand up. Anybody else see the article?

I haven't had a chance to see Marks new store yet so I'll be meeting Lee & riding over in the morning.

Re: Charlotte, NC

You boys have fun tomorrow drooling on the new GT. I suppose we'll see one here in Ohio sometime this year. Maybe if you buy one and ride it here!

Re: Charlotte, NC

The new GTL they had at the dealership is sweet, would have to get a high seat though, the standard seat is a bit too low for my liking.

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying " I'll try again tomorrow".

Re: Charlotte, NC

Here are some pics I took today. I would definitely want the higher seat. I could flatfoot the GTL while it was on the CS. While the pegs felt like they were a long way from the ground, I didn't feel cramped with the low seat. That might change if I were to be on it for a few hours. I like the looks of the GTL. We didn't get to test ride it today. I tried to get Jessie to push me around inside the dealership on it, so we could test low-speed handling, but he wouldn't do it. No ride report yet.
