Wink What's the weather like early June??

Hi Guys;

Wife and I are planning a trip early June ( around June 5) down through Ohio to Kentucky on to Tennessee and on through to Texas. Just wondering what the weather will be like?

I know its already quite warm, but would like to know if this is the hot weather starting early or just a blip in the weather.

We will be around the area (Georgia,Texas,Tennessee,New Orleans and Kentucky) from June 8 to 18 and need to know what to pack in the way of cloths.

Any other info would be appreciated.( places to stop). I want to stop by to see ELVIS (on the bucket list) anywhere else would be interesting.

Regards,

Bowdon

Generally I would say early June the weather is fairly comfortable. Late June a different story all together. A light jacket early in the morning or evening, when it could possibly be cool. Outside of possible afternoon showers you should not need anything special.

Hot is a relative term,
from a Canadian perspective it will be very hot
anywhere south of the Mason/Dixon line,

Expect lower to mid 80's in Kentucky, Tennesee,
upper 80's to low 90's in Georgia, LA
and Possibly warmer in Texas depending upon how far west and south you go.

Assuming you're riding and depending upon how many miles you want to travel each day
some of the best riding in the eastern US is in east TN-NC area,
blue ridge parkway is one of my favorites,
Texas hill Country is also interesting (down around Kerville/San Antonio area,
Rural KY is pretty nice west TN not that interesting,
N Georgia mountains are nice, southern GA is a steambath in the summer,
it's actually cooler (near the coast) in Florida than GA

Thanks SilverBuffalo;

My wife was worried about the weather around Texas being to hot ( heard some horror stories about 110 degrees!!!). Depending on when we leave ( hopefully around June 4 or 5th) we should be down around Texas the 10th ot 11th. Plan on spending two or three days in the area, then move on to Georgia and and New Orleans.
I will have my laptop ( work does not stop for vacation!!) so should be checking the weather every evining.

As long as you're toting your laptop, add this site to your fav listing, or as a shortcut on the desktop. Be sure and note the regional breakouts in the boxes below the full map. And, once in a regional box, you can click on a specific coverage area. Enjoy.

Expect 80's in Tennessee during the early-mid month of June.

After reading Silverbuffalo's post, he is spot-on!

Have a safe trip.

Dick;

Thanks for the link, it works great!! This will make it easier to at least know if we are going to hit rain or a storm.

Been there, done that, suffered accordingly
learned a lot of things by doing it the hard way first.

My riding strategy when it gets really hot (over 90)
is to start out early, on the road when the sun is coming up or before,
you can usually check into most motels after 2pm,
by that time you're fried and ready for AC or the pool.
