I'm headed to Jasper after lunch and I plan on taking a some side roads gitting there so I can gander at some of the covered bridges in Alabama.

Horton Mill,Swann & Clarkston are on the list. I'll have one GPS set for the bridges & the other for the Motel in Jasper. When the Jasper GPS says arrival time in Jasper is 5:00pm is when I'll head that way. Subject to change with out notice. Gaining one hour at the Alabama state line is a plus.

The Varsity . . . What'll Ya Have? has been featured on The Food Channel as one of the Great Hot Dog restaurants.

My fav is Hot Dog Annie's halfway down this link-3 miles from where I grew up and revisited this summer on the way to CCR!

If'n I make it, I don't mind riding country roads as long as we make Jasper in time for dinner! And yes, picking up anothe hour is great.

Re: Come join us for LUNCH

Well here is what I would like do after lunch. The longest & tallest (above a river) covered bridges in the United States are in eastern Alabama. As long as the weather is somewhat decent I plan on riding to at least the first two (Horton Mill tallest & Swann longest) & if time permits the Clarkston. The riding distance from the Varsity to the three bridges & the super 8 motel is aprox. 240 miles 4 1/2 hours.

Figuring an extra hour for stops & gaining one hour at the Alabama state line I might not make the 3rd bridge. I want to be in Jasper no later than 5:30 to 5:45. so when my GPS says 5:00 arrival time to Jasper is when I plan on heading that way.

It's just another one of them things been there done that if ya'll are interested. We would hit the county roads after getting off at exit 158 I-20 west heading north on US-231.

It looks like I won't be dragging any of the rug rat's along with me on this ride so I should be there early or on time Mike Looks like I'll be able to try out my $1 Grabber toe warmers. They should last 6 hours at least that's what the package says.
