K1200LT Clutch - Brake Fluid Service Tech Session in Tampa Possibility?

It's about time to get my Clutch and Brake Fluids replaced (every two years?) and I've been thinking about either attending or hosting a tech session. I've depended on the local dealer for the past two services because it seemed a little over my head. Anyone in the area comfortable with the service on an 02 or had any experience doing it? Reading the write ups on it makes me think that you really must know what you are doing as opposed to just draining and replacing the engine oil. I'd be happy to host if we can find someone with the knowledge. The weather is perfect and I've got room....

Ride up to NC and I'll get you fixed up, spend the night if needed, ride back the next day.
It is easier to do with 2 people, due to the opening and closing of the bleed valve if you do not have speed bleeders while pumping the foot/hand brake levers, doing the circuits are a breeze with the servo motors helping, just need to make sure the reservoirs dont go dry.

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying " I'll try again tomorrow".

Thanks Mike, I really appreciate the offer.........

My wife just doesn't understand why I would ride 1,200 miles (round trip) to do a fluid swap, when the dealer is an hour away will do it for around $250.00! WOMEN!!!

If I can't find someone a little closer, I'll take you up on it. Make a nice ride of it... I'm leaning towards Oct 23rd, but will wait to see how that looks for you and upcoming plans... thanks again for the generous offer.

I'll be up at the Iron Horse Lodge (in the Smokie Mountains) that weekend along with several other of us. Make it a long weekend Dan get the flush done on wed. & ride a few days with all of us.

If you use a speed bleeder bag and elevate it it is a one man job as air bubbles will not go down - only up. Just open the bleed nipple and pump away at the lever or pedal. Plus you only need to open the tallest nipple on the ABS unit for a flush now, not all three. Makes it alot easier.

I did my 02 last winter per JohnZ's instructions with the bag. Worked great after I got it through my mind. I was nervous, but it all worked out fine. Oh, yeah, used the speed bleeders too. I messed around with a HF mighty vac 1st for awhile & wasn't getting anywhere. John's system works.

I appreciate to offers and would like to make the Iron Horse too, but the planets don't seem to be lining up. Relatives coming this weekend and skydiving scheduled for the next few... Might have to let the dealer do it.

Wife said that this is probably the last year on THIS bike anyway! She sees the new K1600GT screen saver on my desk and wonders when it will be in the garage...... Dealer has been notified..

I'm due to do mine again soon. I did it last year and it went well. It helps to have two people so if you are interested in taking a ride over to this side of the state we can get them both done in my shop at my house.
