Jeff's Strip Joint open 6/12/10

I'll be hosting a tech session at my house this Saturday. We'll be doing fluid changes and some lighting installation. All are welcome. If you want to do something to your bike let me know ahead of time. Email me at [email protected] for directions. We'll get started around 9:00 a.m.

Wont be able to make it, sorry. I have a graduation to attend.

Re: Jeff's Strip Joint open 6/12/10

I hate to miss this session. I picked up an 05 a few weeks ago and need to replace most of the fluids. But my schedule won't permit it. Hopefully I can make the next one.

Being a total novice at maintenance, how much of the 12K service could a newbie do?

Re: Jeff's Strip Joint open 6/12/10

The wife has decided to do her garage sale this sat. if the whether looks ok. So I may not be able to hit the road until 9:00 or so. My GPS shows a 4hr ride Would a 1:00 or 2:00 o'clock arrival be to late?. She said she'll be ok by herself but we usually get a lot of people between 7:00 & 9:00 am & I don't want to leave until the crowd dies down a little.

We normally don't go past mid afternoon but if all you need to do is check and clear codes that won't be a problem at all, as they say Come on down!

In terms of routing, DO NOT try to come in 501 after about 11:00 a.m. as the tourists use that as a parking lot incoming on Saturdays. You can come in 501 as far as just east of Aynor and then take 22 East to 31 South and get off at the Grissom Boulevard exit to 48th Ave N.

The garage sale is next weekend so if Lee & I leave by 6:00 & stop for breakfast on the way we should be there no later than 11:00. Are you listening Lee ? Let us know if there is anything we can bring.

Jeff,
Sorry I can't be there. Sounds like you have a bunch of guys I've never met. Maybe my dropping in during the winter isn't conducive to participation from others.
Have fun.

It was simple I told her that this sat. only I would ask every one of her potential customers for proof they are in this country legally & if not leave your not welcome. I've been threatening to do that for a while & that would get rid of most of her customers.

Re: Jeff's Strip Joint open 6/12/10

It was good to see everyone again & meet new faces. Jeff cleared the 34 fault codes (32 on the engine & 2 with the ABS) most of them were from the problems I had with the bike last year. Lee Mike & I rode to the beach on the way home. I wasn't riding to Jeff's place within a few blocks without looking at the ocean. Plus Lee & I found some more good country roads to avoid riding thru Charlotte.

Re: Jeff's Strip Joint open 6/12/10

Good time was had by all. We all watched Jeff strip her for the first time and boys he was gentle. The ride back home was uneventful but for looking at the ten mile long parking lot. Of people trying to get the land of sun and sand. The temp. was around ninety four so a much needed stopped was made at DQ. For some cooling off, you count your blessings where you find them. Thanks Jeff until next time.

You know I'm always amazed that we don't have more suicides/homicides on Saturday mornings. Many of those late 80's model Chrysler Mini Vans have travelled overnight from Ohio or Connecticutt or Pennsylvania only to get caught in a 90 degree+ 90% humidity parking lot less than ten miles from their final destination. You can imagine that the tempers out there tend to be rather short. And this happens for at least 15 consecutive Saturdays every summer. Then when they get here and get checked in the first thing they have to do is go to the grocery store to stock up for the week. Can you imagine what it is like in the local Food Lion? Life is a beach!

I'll have to write on the board one hundred times. Don't go to Myrtle Beach ever on Sat. afternoon, Don't go to Myrtle Beach ever on Sat. afternoon. The 10 mile stop & go traffic on 501 south at around 4:30 was unbelievable & I think it was more than 10 miles.

Ten or hundred miles. I kept thinking about those poor souls, who were pulling a house on wheels. They had to set it up, after hearing "are we there yet" over and over again. I'm with you Dave. Never go to Myrtle Beach on Saturday afternoon in the summer.

Good news is, if you can call it that, that he/she didn't crack up the radiators. Aren't the spaces pretty tight getting through to the top of the engine? Well, we were moving along pretty good at minute of impact.

I hadn't thought to ask about the bird when I stopped by yesterday. Did you get everything done and put back together?

Yep it's all back together. I had to ratchet the front suspension down so my hand would fit in far enough to get it out.

Jeff, if I remember correctly, you were working on that solar heating system for the garage last year and it worked really good then too! How 'bout a garage COOLING system?!?
