Cool UPDATE - RTE Atlanta area!

Hi, folks!

This is the updated thread for the RTE originally started by me (using my previous handle "hawg"....

Since I have had a long break, I am now using this handle and will ask the moderators to "decommission" my other handle).

Sooooooo...without further ado....

We have interested riders from as far south as Donalsonville, Ga (almost Florida) to North Carolina and several have previous engagements. So, here is the proposal:

TWO (2) RTE not just one!

First RTE on Saturday, July 25, 2009 @ 1:00pm
Location: Hooters! 1001 Bullsboro Newnan, Georgia on Interstate 85 Exit 47

***Bonus*** Since the location is so close to my house, I would like to offer a FREE portrait of you and your motorcycle (or m/c alone). This would be a win-win because I would like to add your photograph to my portfolio and you will have a digital file for your own use!

Second RTE - TBD but located north of I-20 but south of Chattanooga! Any day you desire, any place you desire and any time....just let me know!

Here is the list so far:

dave lackey (aka: hawg/dave.gt)
john rehder
greg counts
larry bryant
Jay Slomka---- Hoping the stars align!!
Bruce & Mabel Anne Kincheloe, Duluth, Ga
Norwood & Lanette
Dick Wood
Glenn Baker, Fayetteville, GA
Brett Salmon-Ringgold, Ga-just back from the Adirondacks and Intercourse...Pa. that is!
Chris & Donna Ehlbeck

Just ride it!

dave

Re: UPDATE - RTE Atlanta area!

Sorry, you'll have to take me off the list. I've got a triathlon to work that weekend at Mistletoe State Park over near Augusta. Ya'll have fun. Besides, I'd have to make that one by myself, Connie won't darken a Hooter's door way.

Maybe next time.

Connie & Patsy are a lot alike. When we do the New Year's Day Hooters thing here in Tejas, I can take one of my sons, cause Patsy ain't goin.

Did get her to Bone Daddy's (Hooters for BBQ) because John Zeiler was in town. It was the neighborly thing to do.

Y'all Southeasters, enjoy your RTE.

Re: UPDATE - RTE Atlanta area!

Put me down as a maybe at the moment for the first one. I'll check with my wife when I get home but she has no problem going to Hooters. Especially if she's riding on the back of the Magic Carpet.

Of course I'd prefer the second one but after all, "It's not the destination, it's the ride."

That's cool...we'll try and do the second one in August or later.

We have a few folks from down south that can't make it up north, so the Hooter's location is the same we used successfully several years ago.

Looking forward to seeing ya!

Just ride it!

Re: UPDATE - RTE Atlanta area!

I started to get really interested when I read this thread. An RTE in the Atlanta area, but then I saw it was going to be on July 25th. I'll be passing to the north of Atlanta on Sunday July 12th riding with my daughter Jessica, on our way to the MOA rally in Johnson City. Still planning the route, but I'm trying to avoid the interstates, or heavy traffic areas. I'll be on my LT and Jessica will be riding her Ninja 250.

We're leaving home, (near Houston, TX) on Friday morning and intend to get to the start of the Blue Ridge Parkway on Sunday evening, riding 300+ miles each day. If there are any RTEs on Sunday 12th, let me know. That would be an interesting addition to the trip.

We're planning on staying Saturday night in Jasper, AL then heading northeast through Albertville, AL, Summerville - Calhoun - Ellijay, GA, then onto Cherokee, NC where we will stay on Sunday night.

Calhoun, GA is about half way for the day but the route is flexible. Is there somewhere in the general area that's good for lunch?

Re: UPDATE - RTE Atlanta area!

The interstate runs through Calhoun so we all the fast food places, but let me see if I can't come up with something with home cooking. Let me get with some folks I know in Calhoun and I'll let you know.
