Memphis Barbecue?

Hi there,

Coming into memphis this weekend and wondered if anyone could reccomend a good place to score some tasty "Q"?

I was thinking about hitting Neely's, but it looks like it might have gone tourist since the Neely's TV show began...

Let me know what you think.

Brian

Re: Memphis Barbecue?

I wasn't happy with the Rendevous, Stopped on the way home last year after CCR, My next choice is "Interstate BBQ". I'll try it next time I am in Memphis.

Re: Memphis Barbecue?

+1 on Interstate. Mike is right. Rendezvous used to be a favorite of mine, especially those "Memphis Style" dry ribs of theirs finished off with their own sprinkle seasoning and served with sauce on the side, but since Charlie Vergo died it too has gone tourist unfortunately and is now a disappointment. I buy their seasoning and do my own...works like a charm.

Re: Memphis Barbecue?

My daughter lived in Memphis for a couple years, and we tried several BBQ places there. Ended up that we started just going to Corky's most of the time. It is a chain in the area, but great BBQ. We did not like Interstate nearly as much as we thought we would when we went there.

If anyone comes to Knoxville, try Famous Daves! Our favorite here.

Re: Memphis Barbecue?

Try a small place called the Commissary. Excellent BBQ and great old time atmosphere. I think it is closer to Germantown, but what good is BBQ without a good ride to go with it!
