Statesville NC tues nite 7/17/07

Wife and I find ourselves kidless this week and are going to bike night in Downtown Statesville, NC. on Tuesday night. If you can make it, please join us. The bike night there is very mild. going to try to round up a couple other BMW riders. We could quite possibly outnumber the others....lol

Good sub shop there. Sub Express is where it's based.

What's a good time? I'll see if I can get a pass.

Last time, I met up with Dan Brown from here about 6:30. Weatherwise, it was a lot like this evening is supposed to be (maybe chance of rain) so there weren't a lot of bikes there. Plus it's alcohol-free; fine by me, but keeps the "hard core" (LOL) guys away.

Dan may not be able to make it this evening. And if it's raining at time to go, we may not. My wife doesn't mind getting caught in it, but neither of us is crazy about starting out in it.

Hey Dan, you listening?

I got my pass, I think I'll go even if it is raining just to see who shows up. My wifes already got me off the dinner list

6-7:00 it is.

Thanks,

John

Dan emailed me that he may not make it tonight. But will for sure see us Saturday, if not tonight.

Radar shows a big clear opening for you for a while. I've got a small storm cell here right now with lightning. Seems to be letting up though. I plan on giving it a whirl if the lightning subsides in a few minutes. Had a guy on a Shadow going to ride with me, but he melts in the wet, so backed out.

We'll see.

yeah. my wife will hold the final decision.

If I don;t make it, it ain't cause I didn't wanna. I gotta go get wet now, just to get to the house.....

Good call Randy, yepper, it was real wet. The lightning wasn't real comforting either.

Can't complain too loud though, we really need it.

Dan made it there, but he dodged the wet stuff. Sneaky 'ole devil.

HAH! WE left here around 6:05, which put us at mile 57 or so, exit 54 (5 miles away) when the lightning got so bad we stopped and hid under a canopy at the Shell station. We tried, we really did.

My wife had to work a few minutes later than usual, so we were late leaving. Had we left 15 miuntes earlier, we mighta got there before the weather did. We left for home around 7:50 or so, figuring bike nite would be over anyway.

That was the first time in 8 years I've encountered lightning that really made me wanna stop NOW.

We didn't get too wet as the rain wasn't all that hard before we got stopped. The lightning is what made us stop.

Sorry I missed you guys, but we did try.....
