Question Nashville hotels

The SO and I are making a trip thru the southeast to visit family and friends over Memorial Day. The only town that we are struggling with is Nashville, TN. We are doing alot of camping and staying at ma/pa hotels throughout the stay... I would like to surprise her with a very nice hotel in Nashville. I am currently looking at the Sheraton Dwntwn and/or also the Hermitage, but I want to make sure that the hotel I choose is close to live music and nightly fun (Walking distance or short cab ride). We are huge country music fans, but have never been to Nashville.

Just looking for something nice because she gets sick of camping on all of our trips...

Any help appreciated!!

Thanks!!

I have never stayed there but have been by it at the mall. Opryland Hotel. My sister and her husband stayed there when they came to visit and had a blast. Lots of local people go up there for a stay during the holidays. Worth a checkout at least.

We went that way after spring traing camp last year and we stayed at the "Drury Inn" but it is out at the airport so it would not fill your request.

There is a great resturant and brew pub downton, across the street from "Hard Rock Cafe" I really enjoyed the beer there!! and the food was very good also!!

you probably want to stay at the downtown location. There is a lot to do down town and you can go down to the riverfront park or go to I think 2nd Ave and go to the famous Whitehorse Saloon. There will be something going on there for sure. And if you are going to Nashville no true country music fan should miss the World Famous Tootsies Orchid Lounge it is near the Ryman too. That is definitely a hot spot and if I remember right it is close to the Sheraton. If you get a chance you may want to go out to Music Row as there is a ton of stuff to do but you will need to take a cab for it. It would be worth it if you are staying for a few days. I grew up in Nashville but I haven't been back for a few years. You can't miss being downtown though.

The Opryland Hotel complex has turned into a convention center type venue. It seems that you walk miles from the rooms to the restaurant(s).

I'd vote for a downtown dig near Music Row. Try This and go one to the hotel links.
Be sure to visit the Whitehorse Saloon. It ROCKS!

You've already mentioned it, so do yourself a favor and stay at the historic Hermitage Hotel in downtown Nashville. It was at risk of being torn down several years ago from old age and neglect but was acquired and completely restored to its original turn of the century elegance and is a true gem. Walking distance to 2nd Avenue, Printer's Alley and most of the other good stuff downtown. Have fun!!

If you want to enjoy downtown and the music (which is excellent since even the "starving musicians" you will see in the Wildhorse or most other locations are top rate) you will NOT want to stay at Opryland.

I have business guests in from out of town all the time and, although I've not stayed at the Hermitage I am told it is wonderful. I hear great feedback from the Lowes Vanderbilt as well: http://www.loewshotels.com/en/Hotels.../Overview.aspx

I put most of the guests we bring in into the Hilton Downtown: http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hote...essee/index.do

Although the Sheraton and Renaisance are also nice I find that the Hilton is THE most centrally located. It was the first of Hilton's "Embassy Suites" test location where all the rooms are huge. It is directly across the street from the Country Music Hall Of Fame. You are 2 minutes walking distance from the main drag (Second Avenue) and the Ryman (original Grand Ole Opry).

The valet area there is huge as well and you may be able to grease the valet's to keep the LT up front the entire stay as well.

Good call staying downtown. I used to go to Nashvegas all the time to visit one of my offices up there. It didn't hurt that the ride up there from Atlanta through the smokies is beautiful.

If you enjoy music there are tons of places to go check out. A lot of up and coming performers are there looking to make their break there. Check with the local hotels and the bartenders in the hotels about the scene as they usually know what's going on in the area and can point you in the right direction. It's been 3 years since staying there so sorry that I can't recall the specifics of where I stayed. I think one place was the Renaissance Marriot and it was nice. It was built within I'd say the last 4 - 5 years so is very new. Some of the older places I enjoyed for the character and actually I've seen more performers in the older ones because I'm told that they aren't bothered as much in the low profile scenes. Anyway, have fun.

This is probably going to get to you too late, but I HIGHLY recommend The Hermitage. I have stayed there numerous times and it is, by far, one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. And I stay in a lot of hotels!

The rooms are spacious, the water pressure is remarkable, the service is superior, it is in a great location and although I've never traveled there by bike, I have inquired about parking and they can and will accomodate motorcycles on a first-come/first-served basis. This is of imprtance because of the downtown location and all their other parking is valet only.

I hope this is what you chose and look forward to hearing about your experience.

I struggled with lodging in Nashville, as well. On Tuesday AM, eight of us are leaving on a 3000 mile ride with Memphis and Nashville as two of our stops. I finally booked us at the Best Western Downtown In Nashville. They offered a rate of $95/nt. I believe parking is included, too. It is on Union, which is a couple of blocks from Printers Alley and a couple more blocks from Broadway. Hope your trip is safe!
