Need bike and trailer moved from ATL to LA

Hi everyone!

Maybe someone here can think of something I have not.

Here is my situation:

My K1200LT sits on a BMW multi-trailer ready to be towed at my mother-in laws place in Brooks, GA. (about 20 miles south of the Atlanta Airport). We have moved to Orange County, CA (Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa area) and we are looking for a way to get at least the bike, but preferably both, bike and trailer here. The professional bike shippers need the bike prepared for shipment and my mother-in-law can not do this. I have not found anyone to ship the bike on the trailer.

I am prepared to pay a fair price for the service but simply have not found a way to get it done.

Anybody with any ideas??

Thanks!

Wolfgang

Cool Shipping Bike/trailer

Hi Wolfgang,
I know that some on the GoldWing list have ferried bikes or trailers accross the country. On guy tows for 200 to 500 miles and someone else takes it on transfer and then for the next leg. I have a Toyota Highlander with a 2 inch ball and would be willing to help if others want to work out a plan. I live in Richmond Virgina, so down I95 maybe? I assume that you're not in a rush, so it could go from someone's house to house if the pickup could not be made for several days. Just a suggestion. Good luck...If you need me to help ping me via email at [email protected]. Best, Bob

Hi Don

Great to hear from you.

I tried that site to find someone to ship my boat from Puerto Rico to CA. Lots of junk mail but nothing of substance.

But this may be a different deal, I will certainly try it. Thanks for the hint!

See you at CCR!

Wolfgang

Red face U-Haul?

Fly to Atlanta, rent a Van from U-Haul one way rental, put your bike in the van and tow your trailer. Their web site quotes about $500 for one way rental including 2674 miles and 9 days.

Hi Wolfgang,

I cannot help you get it to CA but if you need any help getting either the bike or the trailer ready to ship I can help there. I live pretty close to Brooks.

Cool, well let us know if you need help. As I mentioned, we're driving from Atlanta to the west coast on up to Seattle, Alaska, and back to Atlanta and I'd be happy to take your trailer out to you. I'm in the market for a trailer so it'd be a good opportunity to see if I like pulling this model. ~dk
