Have you figured out where to stay?

We might come over Thursday to visit some shops..Hotels downtown aren't typically cost effective. Have thought of staying on perimeter and taking Marta Train in..?

Sorry, you all have a good dinner for me.

Can't make the show Saturday; there is WAY TOO much to do.

What is bad, I need new riding gear and am still looking for a GPS unit.

The only reason I brought it up, is that the Embassy Suites Galleria is out by Cumberland Mall and close to the old location of the show. Don't ask me...I'm just a Tennessee hick.

Yep.....I couldn't get a room close to the center. All sold out. Then I saw that parking was 4-5 dollars. To me, coming from the NYC show, that was free parking! Event day parking up there is discounted to 25-50 dollars!
Thanks for the advisory, tho, AL.

Smile Big crowds this weekend in Atlanta!

Watching the news this morning about all the events being held the same weekend in downtown Atlanta. Donald Trump and his gang at the same place as the motorcycle show on both Saturday and Sunday. Estimates are for 160,000 people will be in the downtown area this weekend. 3 big Sporting events; motocross, Hockey and Basketball at the arena next to the world congress center.

All this has me thinking that sunday morning might be a better day to attend. Gotta think about this today. I hate driving in crowds and Janie hates it more than me!

Be carefull riding no matter which day you go.

Update... Going Saturday morning anyway, well see how bad traffic is when we get down there!

Well, we had a good time at the M/C show today. I met Jay and Doug at the bottom of the third escalator. We called looking for Al and he was waiting just outside the show floor doors. We proceeded inside and called to check on John Rehder, and he and Janie and Robbie had just arrived at the site and were on their way down, so we hung around to wait on them. We moved on to the BMW both and met up with Al and Jan Strickland.

We just walked aroung the show and met up back the the BMW booth around noon to go grab a bite to eat. Looks like Janie is the big winner today, as she got new boots and a new summer jacket.

We stepped out to go get a bite of lunch in the CNN Center since they have a food court. I don't think any of us had a bad meal. After a quick bite , John, Janie, Robbie and Jay decided they were going to head home. Doug, Al, Jan and I went back into the main hall. Jan and Al headed off to look at Nolan Helmets. Doug and I proceeded to head to the Suzuki booth, Honda, Aprillia, and to the Kawasaki booth to see the 1400 Concours. I wasn't overly impressed, but I haven't ridden as much as everyone else. Doug decided it was time to head out so he left.

I made another pass around the vendors looking to see if there were any communications folks there for Tom Gallo, but only AutoCom showed up and he's not particularly interested in another of their units. I caught up with Al and Jan and then have ordered some new Nolan helmets, with graphics according to Jan. I think that they got them BlueTooth enabled, but I just don't remember.

Here's a few pix from the day (L to R, top to bottom)
1. John, Janie, Robbie, Doug (back to camera) and Jay. I wonder why John's trying to shoot Jay
2. The first set of baby clothes, I'm buying for the grandchildren. Connie's not happy.
3. Three old Indians
4. Nate Kern, one of the three riders on the winning BMW of the first ST Moto in Daytona last fall
5. "Look Daddy, this one fits."
6. Janie, she thought I was using the flip screen on the Canon PowerShot A620 to take a picture of Robbie
7. Robbie doesn't like his picture taken so Jay is giving me the evil eye as I catch him mid mouthful
8. Al and Jan, Jan is not going to be happy with me.
9. Robbie when he wasn't paying attention and I was using the tilt screen again.

Steve and all, had a great time a the show with everyone. Thanks Al for the free tickets! Janie was excited to get her some boots and a new pink jacket which Jan wanted me to model so she could take a blackmail picture! Greg left a voice mail on my work phone which I did not have with me to see where we were going to meet and eat. Sorry Greg that I did not get your message until that evening. Hope you had fun anyway. Steve and I are going to post a RTE for March so watch for it.

looking around for a possible replacement

Sorry I missed you guys. John, I had that number as your cell number - gotta update the pda.

By 12:15 I gave up waiting for a call, as I was getting light headed and could feel a weight loss starting to occur. Hope everyone had fun.

BTW - The new Concours is looking very sharp - here's some cell phone pictures.

Smile IMS pics

Well I made it there, spent most of the day there and took 128 pictures. After looking at them, 9 were deleted, resons-someone's hand in the way, blurry, reflection from reflectors, etc., and there was one I just withheld for personal reasons. I ended up with 118 pics that are now on Webshots. They are all of the bikes, ATV's, etc. So if you missed the show, that would be at least 1//4th of what was there. You can find them at: http://community.webshots.com/user/joh2car

As for my personal thoughts of the IMS, better than last year, but I would have liked for KTM to have been present. Also noticed that Triumph was not present and that there were not as many older models on display as prior. What few were there were crammed in too tight to get much of a picture. I didn't see the trials bikes until they were rolling them out after closing. They were various brands so I'm guessing it may have been the Trials Training Center outside of Chattanooga. I didn't get a list of the vendors, but I've got to get by there place some day, if only to check the place out.

John...they were there! I think they were over around where Ducati was holding court, if I'm not mistaken. At least I remember one cosmetically appealing young lady explaining the virtues of 4-5 Triumph models I saw on the floor.

Ditto what Al said. Doug and I went back in and I threw a leg over the Tiger and a Sprint.
