Tail of the Dragon and Moonshiner 28 tomorrow

Since the weather will cooperate on a weekday we decided to take a little side excursion tomorrow, Tuesday.
Last time I went it was by car as my wife was recovering from shoulder surgery, and that was a good thing as we strictly had thunderstorms...
Looking forward to experiencing some of the best riding roads on the Right side of the country after leaving California.

For her I climbed the highest mountain!
For her I swam across the deepest ocean!
For her I walked through the largest desert!
And then she left me... She said I was never home!!!

Re: Tail of the Dragon and Moonshiner 28 tomorrow

Now that you are in the area vs. California, this might be of interest...
Southern Dozen | Home Johnson City, TN is just a few hours away "over the hill" and you can incorporate more awesome roads along the way. The local police (so far) have proven to be pretty biker friendly. Over the weekend the Southern Cruisers Motorcycle Club took over the Holiday Inn and the police set up a flashing signboard reminding motorists to "Look twice, save a life- Motorcycles in the area". I thought that was a very nice added touch.

I've personally stayed at The Red Roof Inn many times and the room has always been clean, quiet and a good deal under $65 a night. (Unless a holiday or NASCAR event.) It is also nice because you can park the bike and a short walk to many restaurants where you can enjoy all the adult beverages you want without worrying about driving back to your room. There is also a Best Western, Holiday Inn, Baymont and Double Tree in the same general area.

P.S. Recently relocated from San Diego. GREAT riding roads all over the place. Once I get better acclimated to the random humid days, all will be good. Ha ha

Don't forget the Cherohala Skyway, One of my favorite roads in that area.

That was a miserable day Gilles. It should be much more enjoyable on a day like today with Kathy on 2 wheels. So many good roads in that area. Enjoy!!

Had a great time yesterday...
We are planning on going back soon and try the Cherohala Skyway and other roads as many already suggested.

Moonshiner 28, the Rattler, Wayah Road to name a few besides Cherohala.

Don't miss the local roads around Dahlonega and Blairsville. 60 through Suches ( Two Wheels Suches for lunch) , Wolf Pen Gap on 180 and 129 across Blood Mountain. My favorite place for a day ride.

Depending on our relative skill levels, I may be following you but I think a ride in that area with you two would be lots of fun.

And with Kathy on board it would be a more sedate ride anyway...

Are you saying we should go ourselves first to scout the territory before bringing the girls along

Not sure how well that would go over but I do ride there on good days when Susan is OOT.

Whatever you do, don't order the sausage patty for breakfast at Deal's Gap. I've never eaten the sole of a pig farmer's boot, but it hast be more tender and taste better. The eggs aren't much better either, unless you like 'em raw.

I always stop for lunch and my favorite is the BLT. Never had a problem with that.

I think Kathy would be disappointed if I went without her, unless she has somewhere to be that day.

Same with Susan. I do go without her but only when she is either out of town or has something else that would not include me.
