Looking for a companion rider -- AL, one trip
Took a wild notion to ride the perimeter of Alabama, as close to the borders as possible always on pavement, never crossing into other states, breaking the 2000+ miles into two segments with days (weeks?) in between. Each leg four days, three on the back roads and one traveling the length of I-65 returning to Mobile area to end the first segment and to begin the second. Have multiple files of turn-by-turn directions and MapSource (Garmin, Zumo) route segments. Relaxed pace, each day 300-350 miles. Will be preparing an article for a motorcycling mag with lots of photo stops. Want a companion rider for safety, conversation at meals, and to assist with photography.
Overnight stops in cheap motels in Demopolis, Florence, and Montgomery. My trip begins and ends in Pensacola; first segment begins in Bayou La Batre, south-southwest of Mobile.
No dates set yet. Hoping for third week of March but fully dependent on weather and availability of another rider. I'll be on a K1200LT or possibly -- oh, heresy! -- an Indian Roadmaster. Yeah, I know: the BMW sedan vs. the 1975 Buick. Both have their different seductive characters.
If anyone's interested they can drop me a private message with an e-mail address.
