This is a preventative maintenance issue and it is generally suggested that the Slave Cylinder be replaced around 40-50k miles. We would also be drilling a "weephole" that will allow the fluid to drain outside of the engine (just in case the slave cylinder ever leaked), instead of draining into the clutch area and ruining the clutch.
The parts cost about $100 - $120 which is a huge savings over the repair if the Slave Cylinder ever fails (approx $1,200 - $1,400).
You will need the following parts:
Qty. 1 - Clutch Slave Cylinder for your year bike
Qty. 4 - Aluminum Sealing washers where lines
attach to the new cylinder
Qty. 1 - Gasket for the Slave Cylinder
Qty. 1 - Qt. of Dot 4 Brake Fluid (approx.)
I have all the tools needed...specialty and otherwise.
If you want to sign up to do this on your bike, please let me know ASAP. I''ll then set a date that would work for both of us!
