I'm also happy to take it to Charlotte if there isn't anyone so good near here. Thanks!

There is (was) a dealership in Raleigh, Greensboro, too. I can't say anything about their level of service as I've not had any work done at either place.

Anyone have any names? There are a couple of dealers locally but I'd rather not go there unless someone has tried them and found them trustworthy - unfortunately there are far too many experiences at BMW dealerships where the service techs don't really know what they're doing...

Because I am capable, this is the reason I do it myself. If I mess it up, I have no one to blame but myself. I also fix it like I am going to ride it and not someone else. I have a stake in it working properly.

Good luck in your search.

Looks like I'm a wee bit late to the post but I have used Moto Garcia (formerly Capitol BMW) on Capitol Blvd. in Raleigh for many years. They took great care of my 1200LT and now my 1600GTL. Highly recommended. Jon, the service manager, is the most knowledgable service person I have ever met.

Jon Ross, the Service Manager I mentioned, has gone out on his own and started Mr. Beemer in Wake County, NC. He offers a service where he will pick up your bike, do the service and return to to you. Highly recommend! (Mrbeemernc.com)
